RN post-war frigate deck colours.

Been looking at this subject for a while and I'm finding some curious anomalies.

In recent years I discovered that some frigates were possessed of a red lead decking at the extreme aft end of the quarterdeck, normally on mortar-equipped ships. Say, the final ten feet or so in one case I've seen. However, I remember the Ashanti having a quarterdeck fully in red lead (i.e. brick red..) aft of the mortar. So I attempted to do a search for something definitive, but due to the paucity of colour photography in the period, it's difficult to get a consistent idea. Then, looking at something completely different earlier this morning I found the photograph as per link.

Normally I would have accepted wholly deck green as the norm on steel areas. From what I'm seeing, I can't really accept that these are undercoated areas in preparation for a green topcoat. Anyone shed any light on this?

Yes correct on some types of ships, to me it looked like a red oxcide colour this was before the use of deck green in the late 60s. Its apity I cant speak to my youngest uncle as he served from 52 till late 60s and it was his pics from then isaw.
