davidelvy
When I saw this kit at Telford my impression was that the panel lines were much more restrained than earlier releases, so perhaps Jonathan's photos make them appear more prominent than they are. (Or maybe I had my rose tinted spectacles on at Telford - we shall see. ) The detail Airfix put into their cockpits these days is pretty impressive. However, I wonder why they continue to use the same slabs for the pedals as they have since the Mk Vb, when they are clearly capable of something more refined. Also, the seat is the same as in the Spitfire Mk XIi and Seafire Mk 17, which is the smallest Spitfire seat I've seen in 1/48. Won't stop me getting one, though. thx6667
I was looking at the photos of the Eduard Mk.IX over on Aeroscale and the panel lines on those look prominent in some photos, but then again they are about three or four times actual size. jenko
Very impressive...............well that's my pocket money for the year sorted. As for the panel lines, I think it's the way they come out on a photo (the way the light falls etc.), and not what we see with the naked eye. If you understand what I'm getting at. Smiffy
I don't think those panels look as deep as we've seen on other recent Airfix products. They look fine to me. Hannants have the decals in stock now, btw. http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/X48118

Paramedic
Swedish set in the kit as standard. Yeah, that´s good but the ones for the 1/72 is a bit off in colour.. Was hoping for after-market alternatives as an option, like there are in 1/72.. Iirc by Xtradecal but it could be someone else. "Griffon Engined Spitfire..."-something. Edit: Never mind.. http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/CA48014 Edited January 29, 2013 by Paramedic

Edit: Never mind.. http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/CA48014 I don't think that any aftermarket swedish Spitfire dekals look correct in some way ore another except maybe Flying colors J26 / S31 sheet. But as it happens, there is new correct decals in the workings from Robert Bergwall / RBD Decals and those will arrive in all 3 major scales. link to ipms stockholm forum topic: http://www.ipmsstockholm.se/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2057 /Johan
