Advanced appologies if the thread ends up with some chunks missing. Insipred by the recent good reception of the Ducati 916 I posted up a couple of weeks back, I thought I'd do the RC30 I mentioned in that thread. I think she's coming along nicely at the moment. So here she is... Box shot. Frame. Finished with various Alclads and Vallejo. Engine and Carb block. Again various Alclads and Vallejo. Swingarm. Alcalds and Vallejo (There's a theme developing here ). All together with the Wheels. Wheels are Halfords Appliance White, as is/will be the main body parts (tank, fairing etc), discs are Aclad. Although I'm probably going to decal over the Alclad Chrome with carbon, and pretend it's an Arrow, for the end can Got round to shooting some Blue on the bodywork. Was going to use Vallejo, but then realised that it wouldn't stick to the Halfords Appliance White, so used Tamiya X4. Hopefully Vallejo will stick to the Tamiya for the lighter Blue later. Elastic band is holding the rear pipes in the correct position while the glue sets. I've recently built up some Tamiya 1:12 bike kits (Ducati MH replica, Yam OW01, Bimota Tesi - though not to this level of detailing, at all...) but my RC30 remains on the shelf because I'me put off by the clear fairing - what am I supposed to do with it? Leave it clear to show off the engine? Paint it on the inside a la lexan RC car bodies? Ignore the fact it's clear & just prime & paint it like its a regular part? Ignore the fact it's clear & just prime & paint it like its a regular part? You answered your own question. Just treat it like a regular part, prime it and paint it like normal. Unless of course you want to leave it clear and show off the engine etc..?? Natter Posted March 15, 2015 Share Posted March 15, 2015 I built one of those for my girlfriend (now my ex-wife!) many moons ago, and remember it is a lovely kit. Johnny Retro, paint the fairing like a regular part. It looks beautiful when it is finished, far nicer than if it were clear. Paint the outide, not the inside like you would a lexan car body.
