Unsure whether this has been covered before?

I'm after pics of the 36 shot, 2 inch rocket pods used by the RN. Also, are there any representation of these available in the major scales (1/144-1/32)?

Thanks,

Greg

I think Freight Dog made them in 1/72 but I can't see them on the website now. They may be included in the CMR 1/72 Buccaneers or the Airfic 1/48 B Uccaneers or Sea Vixen but I don't know as that's not my scale.

There's a pic of one in this thread.

Tamiya AV-8A Harrier in 1/48th has 4 in the kit

Skyraider 68mm rocket pods (SMDS48036 has 4 per pack in resin (1/48th)

Flightpath has them in resin - 2 per pack (1/48th)

Sure your not thinking of the 24 round 68mm MATRA rocket pods with the two rings of rockets rather than the fatter Royal Navy 36 round 3 row pods ?

The Airfix 1/48th Sea Vixen and Harrier GR3 kits have them, the Cyberhobby 1/72 Sea Vixen FAW1 has them. The CMK Buccaneer pods are flawed as they use the same body with different noses, when the 36 rocket pod should be fatter.

The 24 Round 68 mm pod? Another unknown I am afraid.

The RAF only used The 18 shot 155 SNEB rocket Launcher and the (rarely seen) 19 shot disposable SNEB launcher (designated 115 IIRC!) on land, and the Navy 2" rocket when deployed from carriers, as the SNEB was inadaquately EM shielded from shipborne radar emmisions.

I found this pic on line,

Interesting that the RN crew said the 3" was far more accurate and deadly than the 2", If the 3" fell short on a ship the fins would level it out underwater and it would punch holes through the hull!!

It was said that a full ripple from all four pods ,was equal to a broadside from a Battle ship.!!!

If the 3" was more accurate than the 2", the 2" must have been bloody inaccurate! with the 3" you had a bit of a job hitting the sea never mind anything else. Impressive when fired in salvo though!

That's why the RAF Harrier GR3 used Navy 2" pods during the Falklands war and not SNEB.

Hello! Tell me, please, the dimensions of this POD.
I plan to release the set in resin. And the correct dimensions are very necessary
Thank you

You mean like these ones?

Badly labelled I am afraid, as the 2" pod was not a Matra pod!

Freightdog did the same in 1/72, not sure they are still in production
