Pratt & Whitney Wasp R-1340

I'm getting close to being finished with this one. I have the wiring loom all hooked up now.

This last one, from directly aft, shows what I did about having cut too short the leads that go from the magnetos to the loom guide. I encased them in heat-shrink tubing, and shrank it to fit tightly. Looks all right, I think:

I want to touch up some paint, and apply some more weathering. I also have to decide how to mount it, as I need my vise for something else!

Thanks for watching.

What a great result - congratulations  .

Nice touch with the display - I guess it could work well with in-flight aircraft models too, swooping down over the screen.... Enjoy the dusting!

Cheers

Thanks, everyone.

The dust is going to be a problem, I agree. I hope to have an air compressor before long, for airbrushing and for blasting the dust off of projects like this.

In the background there, you can see an F8F Bearcat of the French Armée de l'Air, GC 1/22 "Saintonge" at Cat Bai, Indochina, in April, 1954. The Bearcat (some of which are still operating) has a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp engine, the ultimate development of the engine I modeled here.

Hello Gents, I'm the new kid, just signed up here.
Found this forum while researching for my recently purchased Wasp and was inspired this effort. I first had to learn how to post photos here, hope this works.

This is my version, perhaps not for purists, as I do take liberties with colours and such.

Normally I am a race-car modeller, specifically 1960s, 70s in 1/12th scale.

But I do have a small Aviation corner for my first love.

I will not be able to respond to comments, as I'm about o leave on a trip.......... Cheers
