Looks like I'm first to finish again!!! How embarrassing! Any how here goes.

Canadair built CF-104D of 417 squadron at Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada. 1/72nd kit by Revell with unbulged main gear doors swapped from the Hasegawa kit. ( the one with the missing sprue!!!) Decals from the Hasegawa CF-104G single seat kit with the serials/last three from Mike Grant decals set fro the CF-5. The 417 badge on the intakes were from the Leading Edge set of the recent T-33 sheet which I completed recently too.

Alclad again, appliance white(wing tops) light grey wing undersides and the red tailplane as seen on Canadian based 104s.

For my second Starfighter I have done this one.

CF-104G / C of No.1 Canadian Air Group, Baden- Soellingen, West Germany, 1980's. It wears a large 'C' as an ID for taking part in NATO exercises.( I think for this one it was a Tactical Weapons Meet(Please correct me if I'm of the mark).

Entirely Hasegawa kit and kit decals. Only the main canopy and rear section wear additional decal items representing sealant strips from yellow decal stripes, though these ought to be a buff shade but Its all I had and played safe by using yellow decal. An additional oddment is the center line baggage pod but I think its too big and the odd underwing LR tank still finished in the previous overall green scheme to give interest, whilst the main aircraft is finished in the final 'variegated' camo scheme worn by CAF F-104s.

Revell's big Red Ferrari 104, 1/32ns scale. Painted using Zero Paint Italian Red. Not the most detailed of kits but scrubs up well.

Lockheed JQF-104A 55-2957

USAF

F-104A 55-2957 was the third YF-104A built. After release to service, it was redesignated as a JF-104A, due to the test equipment it carried. It entered service with the 83FIS at Hamilton AFB. On 7 March 1958, Major Howard Johnson flew this aircraft to a record breaking height for an air-breathing aircraft of 91243 feet. Seventeen miles! Although it still carried test equipment, it was not modified in any manner for the record attempt.

In 1961 the aircraft was modified to JQF-104A standard as the drone programme test aircraft and was issued to the 3205th Drone Squadron at Eglin AFB. It was the first F-104 to be flown remotely, although in the early tests the aircraft was always flown manned in case there was a problem with the control system. In 1965 all test equipment was removed and 55-2957 became an ordinary drone.

On 8 August 1967, on its fourth flight as a standard drone, 55-2957 was shot down by a Sparrow missile fired from an F-4D.

Kit: Italeri (ex-Esci)

Decals: Carpena 72-29

Aftermarket: Aires 7136 Lockheed C2 ejection seat
