Kit: 1/48 Tamiya A-1J Skyraider

Built as: 52-142029, "Sock it to 'em", of 602nd SOS, 56th SOW flying out of NKP in Laos in 1969 on Sandy operations

Built using: Kit decals, True Details Yankee seat and BLU-32 Napalm bombs, scratch WP bomb, scratch built VHF aerial on Port side fuselage shoulder (cat's whisker as aerial!), scratch cockpit rails, fishing line aerial

Build thread: http://www.britmodel...topic=234921157

As a tribute to all Sandy pilots and the aircraft itself, Byron Hukee, a Sandy veteran pilot said "The bottom line was, when you needed close CAS, you needed Skyraiders"...need I say more?

These two photos were taken on the transient ramp at RAF Bentwaters. This would have been the very place where the real aircraft would have taxied to following delivery to the 81st TFW in January 1979.
