I've recently returned from a few weeks in the Far East and just spent 2 days separating out over 400 photos, of planes, tanks, missiles and boats, into seperate folders for the Walkaround section.

I will make a CD of them and send it off to Julien to be placed in the relevant sections by him. Don't expect them to be posted imminently as there are over 45 types to be uploaded but here is a taster:

A-1H Skyraider - Ho Chi Min City (Saigon)
Posted Image

A-37 Dragonfly - Ho Chi Min City
Posted Image

F-5A Freedom Fighter - Ho Chi Min City
Posted Image

Cessna O-1 Bird Dog - Ho Chi Min City
Posted Image

DHC-2 Beaver - Beijing
Posted Image

Chengdu F-7 - Beijing
Posted Image

Dong Feng 2 medium range ballistic missile - Beijing
Posted Image

HY-1 Silkworm missile - Beijing
Posted Image

T-123 Soviet Torpedo Boat - Beijing
Posted Image

M-13 Soviet Rocket Launcher - Beijing
Posted Image

Just a selection of what I was able to photograph. Watch out on the Walkarounds forum for the rest of the images.

cheers

Mike

Only these I'm afraid

The AFV's were arrange in a large circle which meant we couldn't to see the back end of any of them.

Hi Hood,

there is a post on another site which seems to state that this is the only tank museum in China and has 4 x T-34's but I only saw one.

Another site Surviving T-34's gives a list with photos of what appears to be remaining T-34's. Interesting because he doesn't mention the one at Bovington.

here is a video of a T-34 at Bovington's Tankfest

AFV's are not really my thing so I won't be going to the Tankfest.

My interest is mainly 1:144 and, after visiting the Far East, I've picked up a new interest in Chinese and Russian air force aircraft!!!! :frantic:

cheers

A lot of them were actually ex South Vietnamese AF which they have added US titles to, the F-5A, Skyraider etc were used by them.

I am reliably informed by someone who knows aircraft better than me that the Bird Dog is actually a Cessna 185 Skywagon (Military designation U-17) which were not used by the US military. The USAF bought them but supplied them overseas under the FMA programme.

Oh those aircraft in Saigon bring back some memories!

Is it still called "The American War Crimes Museum" in the old CIA building?
