Daniël,

Kinetic made some faults in this kit;

- Check your references for the PE parts. Most of them are not on the Belgium F-16's.

- Unlike for example the Dutch F-16's the F-16's from Belgium don't have the parachute in the tail but some kind of ECM equipment (in the box aswell)

- The base of the tail has a different angle then the one in the kit. Here a description how to correct it http://ultra.glo.be/daco/KF16Kinetic.html

Hope this helps!

Among shape and detail inaccuracies, this kit title is all wrong as there's no such thing as an "F-16A Block 20 MLU". Block 20 is a "production" F-16A/B Airframe updated with Block 40/50 wings and modern C/D cockpit/Avionics. The basic vertical tail and dorsal is the same as other parabrake F-16A/Bs, but it has an F-16C/D tail cap. The MLU F-16A/B (AM/BM the redesignation) is a C/D conversion or upgrade, though the vertical tail remains unchanged. They are two different variants.

The Belgium Parabrake housed the CARAPACE ECM system, then later the RAPPORT III System. Also note the Belgium Block 5-10 F-16s were originally delivered without the parabrake.

Kinetic hosed up the F-16A/B vertical tail dorsal something fierce. It’s too wide to begin with; as wide as the C/D dorsal. The side slope and taper is also off, as depicted in the DACO correction. Combined with those hideous punch marks on the right side of the vertical tail, it's a mess to clean up. A corrected vertical tail is need for the Kinetic F-16A/B/AM/BM kits.

Also note that the kit's Light Weight Gear structure detail is that of the Heavy Weight gear; yet another Kinetic oversight. Where the shock strut mounts to the tension strut, that structure should not have the two parallel channels. For a correct LWG structure, it should have the triangular channel.

Well done work on a tough kit; keep it up.

  • 2 weeks later...

While sanding down the moldline on the canopy it cracked on this line :angrysoapbox.sml: I will use the canopy and hope that I will get a new one somehow.

I also painted some parts. Hopefully I will make it in time. Will place new pics when there is some progress.

The engine is a cold fit, still needs some work before glueing together. I also see that the left horizontal is hanging to much. Have to correct that also.

Yesterdays damage...

The tail is still a dryfit becouse I damaged my tailbase while modifying it.... So I have to remodel it with putty, sanding and rescribe it. Bottomline is that I will not make it in time. :raincloud:

Her are the results thusfar. Mind that the engine, vert. tail and those tapes "tubes" wich I think are droptanks or something, are dryfits.

This is how far I managed this STGB. Pity I haven't finished it in time, but I will continue this on.

Main colors are on, but i have to place some clear parts and the wheels. Ad of course the decals.

Never mind not finishing in time, sometimes a kit fights back and has its own schedule. Far better to take your time and do it properly :)

Will continue to follow your new thread to completion.

Well done on the work so far!

Mike
