This One For My Entry

That Revell Hunter is such a lovely kit so shouldn't present any dramas ahead of the build finish line! Good luck with it and looking forward to seeing some progress shots.

Some pics of the quite quick progress. I don't intend to add any 'frills' and spills to this one. The kit is quite adequate for my tastes, and they vary, but will do my best with it ahving already built one before. Still undecided in finish and markings.

There won't be anymore pics of this build sadly. My camera is F*******!!!!! I have made a comment to this fact in the chat pages. Sorry everyone.

Although the model has been painted up now and awaits final bits and a decal scheme to be chosen.

The same goes for any other GB I have entered, I won't be there.

Update: Depending on my camera being fixed, I could be back. But since the downer, I have decided to continue with the build and really nothing is being added to the kit and it has since been more or less completed bar the canopy. Decals are on and finished as the 60 Squadron option in the kit. Just a final top coat to go as well. Pics may appear...... :photo:

Hope the camera gets sorted Paul....

Regarding the 66 Sqn (not 60!) markings these are slightly wrong, and were corrected by Revell in later issues. The blue/white Pennant surrounding the fuselage roundels should be triangular and not have a curved small side. This was due to Revell looking at pic's of the markings from a shallow angle and the straight line looking curved due to the fuselage shape.

Hi Bill,

thanks for the tip on the unit markings squadron number correction. The decals have been applied now but I'll have to go back and have a look see to see if they are as you say. If they're still wrong... oh well!

Re the camera, its in the hands of the repair people and I hope to get it back in the time they say (week to 10 working days). And I hope it falls within the quote and not need replacement bits!!! That would be a write off for me if the cost goes beyond the cost of the camera. I do have another(Nikon4300) that is in need of fixing (yet another lens problem) and have beenquoted for that job too by a firm that is round the corner from where I work so thats handy

  • 3 weeks later...

Well, my camera is fixed and the model is completed so any build pics other than those here already don't exist. So here are pics of my finished Hunter.

The above three pics were taken just before the camera issue. But I'd noticed that the 66 squadron marking was wrong and also pointed out by a learned chap here. So things came to a stop.

Then...I noticed that member 'Navy Bird' was building the same Revell kit and wasn't going to be using the same markings, so a few kind words had them winging across the 'pond' and they duly arrived last weekend. And so....

... these views show the correct straight leading edge unit markings applied. The sharp eyed may well spot the decal still drying as wrinkles can be seen. A great many thanks to NavyBird for his help. I did swap the seat for an Aeroclub offering I had spare. This also helped with the nose weight.

Cheers Bill!
