Looking at the picture of the SLR,the front stock is more like the old wooden ones than the plastic,the latter being less rounded.

Got the DPM jacket painted, not 100% happy with it but I don't think I can do any better.

SLR and ammo pouches added. Just need to work out how to curve some clear acetate for the visor,

That is very nice!
Some great castings to start with and you've done a lovely job painting him, especially on the DPM.
Don't know if its the lighting but there is usualy more contrast between the plastic parts and metal work of an SLR;

Cheers, no, it's not the lighting, I might just give the metal parts for the SLR another go with some graphite powder.
