Dassault Mirage IV A

Recommended Posts

As far as I'm aware the Mirage IV was designed as a strategic nuclear strike aircraft and a small number were produced for strategic reconnaissance. The last ones were retired about ten years ago I believe. When the TSR2 was cancelled Dassualt proposed a RR Spey powered version for the RAF which was to utilise some of the electronics from the TSR2 programme. It lost out to the F111 which was also later cancelled. Would make an interesting 'What if', don't you think?.

The Mirage IV has always been my favourite machine from Dassault, I made the 1/72 kit from Heller some years ago but the finish on this 1/48 example is rather beautiful, in fact for me it is modelling perfection!
