Eduard WWII IJN Extra Ladders

1:700 Eduard

ijnladders1jpg.jpg

Fans of Imperial Japanese Navy subjects are being spoiled yet again with another handy set from Eduard. This fret contains dozens of ladders complete with handrails. Various sizes are provided, including four very long lengths that can be cut to any size. Although the set is designed for IJN subjects, I dare say they could be used on vessels belonging to other navies without too many sharp-eyed modellers noticing!

Conclusion

Another handy little set from Eduard. If you have a stash of IJN kits for which no dedicated photo etch sets are available, these will be a very useful set to have around.

Eduard Photo Etch Sets for IJN Ships – May 2012 Update

IJN Carrier Aircraft

1:700 Eduard

This handy fret of photo etch parts is the latest in Eduard’s growing range of non-vessel specific detail sets. It contains propellers and undercarriage parts for the following aircraft:

• Aichi B7A Grace torpedo bomber;

• Yokosuka D4Y Judy diver bomber;

• Nakajima B6N Jill torpedo bomber;

• Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter; and

• Nakajima C6N Myrt reconnaissance aircraft.

There are plenty of parts on the fret – enough for a couple of aircraft carrier kits at least. In my experience, photo etch detail parts are almost mandatory if you want to add the wow factor to your naval models. This set is no exception.

IJN Anchors

Another utility set for Imperial Japanese Navy vessels, this one contains a whole host of anchors and chains for large and medium sized vessels. On the single fret are 18 large anchors and 10 lengths of large anchor chain, 20 small anchors and 12 lengths of small anchor chain, 8 Large anchors with chain attached and 6 smaller anchors with chain attached. The photo etch chain is superb, and will certainly knock the socks off of any injection moulded version.

Conclusion

This is another useful pair of sets from Eduard, who are spoiling modellers of 1:700 subjects at the moment. Quality is up to the usual high Eduard standard, and so they can be highly recommended.

IJN AA Guns

1:700 Eduard

ijnaaguns1.jpg

Eduard have moved a step closer to completing their line-up of 1:700 photo etched parts for Imperial Japanese Navy subjects with this handy set of anti-aircraft guns. Included are five different types of gun/gun mount combinations, including single, double and triple mounts. Unfortunately Eduard have not indicated exactly which guns the parts are designed to replicate, so you’ll need to have a fairly good working knowledge of IJN vessels and weaponry in order to use these items with full confidence. Some of the larger guns are formed from folding mirror-image parts, which helps to reduce the 2D effect resulting from using photo etch parts.

Conclusion

This is a really handy set from Eduard, but it’s a shame that they haven’t given us a clue as to exactly which guns these parts are designed to replicate. Nevertheless, which a little research I’m sure they will prove very useful indeed.
