F-22 Revell 1/72

Started this one yesterday.

Don't really like the aircraft, but I thought it was a good kit for a quick built.

Good details, etc...

I'll try to finish it ASAP, while at the same time working on other projects.

Here we go:

Then just a wash, and I'll close the pit.

A little bit too big, those seat belt, huh?

;)

Well, coming along nicely, for now;

right, for the belts, it's a bit wide but can do; However I would paint it grey, rather than brown.

As well, I'm begining to have a little something with the plane, but it won't certainly won't be qualified as sexy ...

What wil you do for the metallic/goldish reflects in the painting ?

Don't know exactly, Steph.

I didn't studied the plane in detail, as it I really build it for fun only.

I even considered at one time to build it as an Israeli AF what-if.

But as the box decals are beautiful, I'll stick to an American aircraft.

Anyway, if you've some tips...

This is what you want, this is what you get.

On the left, the load war load that I'll use :

2 AIM-9X and 2 external drop tanks.

The main underfuselage bay will be closed (It's under, so anyway you can't see anything!).

On the right, this is what I keep for another the spare armament box:

2 AIM-9L/M (They're beau-ti-ful!!!), 6 AIM-120 (!!!!), and 2 JDAM.

Thank you mr Revell!!!

Good, swift progress Antoine :thumbsup2:

I've seen a couple of these being built up now and I'm quite tempted. How does the kit go together? Judging by the speed you've knocked it together I'd say quite nicely :D

Well, I regret now not to have provided the forum with a quick review of the kit.

Simply wonderful.

I didin't check for the overall shape, but it looks good to me.

Very good details, recessed panels, fitting very good, loads of stores and a very good decal sheet (I think every USAF units equiped with the plane could be done).

In fact, I'll just use a drop of mr surfacer on the insides of the intakes, at the junction between two panels, on a lengh of about 5mm on each sides, no more.

This is good and bad news....

Good, as I can now add a quality F-22 kit to my collection

Bad, as I now HAVE to add a quality F-22 kit to my stash

Thanks for the info, I look forward to seeing her progress. Also, I'd be interested to know what colours you intend to use, as there always seems to be an issue over them :hmmm:

  • 2 weeks later...

Looking great so far Antoine :speak_cool:

A little useful tip:

Masking the headlights

I do the same using a piece of thin plasticard under the tape - stops it ripping

Also useful for the radii on the Tomcat canopies ;)
