A6M2 Zero seat belts???

Hi Neil

Well, the belts on the A6M2 are an awkward thing.

If it's an A6M2a (Type 11) then it only had lap belts. But, if it's the A6M2b (Type 21) variant, this was the first one with full shipbourne equipment and had a shoulder belt that came over the pilots left shoulder that clipped into a second lap belt that came from the right hand side of the seat.

So you've got two lap belts on the right, one lap belt on the left and the shoulder belt attached to the back of the seat on the left hand side...clear?...good cos i'll be asking questions later....:)

if you know of anyone with the Tamiya 1:32 Zero A6M2b then the instructions have got a very good diagram of it all.

hope that helps?...:)

Col, yes indeed, that's straight out of the Tamiya box, including their rather odd self adheisive vinyl seat belts, which look ok and fold quite nicely but a good set of Eduard pre-painted ones would be SO much better.

Pingu, as far as I know the A6M5 seat was pretty much the same as the earlier ones, so yeah, it can be used on the A6M2. They only changed the seat design right at the end of the war when they made a big receptacle on the seat back for the parachute pack to fit into.

Hope that helps.
