rhusberg
Hei, Just to prove that I actually build as well, not only just taking photos of old models This is the Minicraft kit, one of their better ones, only too deep panellines. I choosed to use resin cowlings/engines from Dana Kopher, and laserprinted decals from Twosix. As always, we start with a clean workbench... And most of my "productionline" right now..... GreenDragon
I did the Pan Am version a couple of years ago, love your resin engines/cowlings, far more accurate than Minicrafts (too many cylinders and seemed too small to me). Looking great so far! Paul Harrison

rhusberg
Ok, then the decals is on. They did not fit very well on the nose area, so I will recomend others to only use the thin blue strip, cuttet apart from the rest of the cheatline, and mask and paint the red stripe. More work, but mutch better result. The plan was to use the deicing boots decal from the kit. They did not fit very well, so I ended up masking everything and paint those. Save your self a lot of work, and paint those before the alclad goes on...... Now its "only" all the small parts, weathering etc again.... rhusberg
Then I'm finished with this one. Today I have added various antennas and done some weathering, as I feel it add some more life to my model. Except the antenna on top of the cockpit, all others are homemade from plastic or metal, and stretched sprue. GreenDragon
Turned out very nice Ruben, love the new engines. I noticed the curtains in the windows, are they printed on the decal sheet or did you have to pant them? Paul Harrison

The curtains are printed on the decal, and add a very nice touch to the models. Happy modelling, Ruben Edited December 7, 2008 by rhusberg

Vincent
Ruben, This model really captures the look and feel of the era. Your detail shots of the aerials are most useful too as I am currently embarking on a series of DC4s. I can also vouch for Dana's engines as I have just used them on a Carvair conversion which is my current project. Vince

I used the book "Skyliners 3 " by Hamlin as a reference, because it has a very nice colourshot of "my" Dc-4. And when looking at a Balair DC-4 on the opposite page, there is alot of differencies. Like the red beacon light on top of the fin on Braathens, the swiss bird has it on the roof above the large freightdoor....
