Guys, I am looking for scale palns for the Martinsyde Type A Mk2 as used by the Irish Air Corpsin the 1920's. I am looking for plans good enough to attempt a scratch-building project and also need the experience and guidance of more experienced members who have done this kind of thing before.

I suppose the plans need a good selection of cross-sections and need to be to scale. I would hope to do this in 1/48 or bigger.

Guys, this is for a an aviaition center recently set up locally and it's a very historic machine to the Irish avaition history.

Now, if there's a kit out there tat could be converted, that would help, but where could i find reference for the interiors etc??

Thanks for any advised and help in advance

Liam

The Big Fella.

Whilst I know of no plans for the Martinsyde A Mk.2 there is a three view drawing in A.J. Jacksons British Civil Aircraft, which I have. It's on floats but there would be no great problem in scaling this up and adding a wheeled u/c. It is of a box type construction of typical WW.1 layout and could very easily be fabricated and the wings filed from solid sheet and wing ribs laid on as in the current Sopwith Pup article. Hope this helps.

The Pup article I mentioned was Rowan Broadbent's post on this site about improvements to the Eduard Pup by adding wing ribs and turtle decking. The small drawing in B.C.A can be easily scaled on a copier or computer drawing programme. Perhaps for a first scratch build this is a pretty ambitious project. I would practice and read up on some of the techniques.

There is a interior drawing in Flight Nov 18 1920. Go Flight Global Archive. or do a search on Martinsyde A MkII.
