Hey Steve

Nice looking Hurricane. Look great with a bit of war paint on her!

Keep us posted.

Thanks folks - I forgot to mention it'll wind up as P3039 of 229 Squadron, flown by Plt Off VMM (Willy) Ortmans, Northolt. It'll be wearing primer later today hopefully.

Thanks again folks - the white areas are Milliput White 'sanded' back with the MkI wet finger (no conventional abrasives used) as per my post in Mish's 110C build thread. Ditch the tube filler...

Here's another wing root rescued by Milliput White (with no collateral damage to surrounding detail):

An all day session and one smoking compressor later...lol.

Having struggled with the Airfix Spitfire to achieve any kind of acceptable result with the Sky lowers it was a pleasant change to wind up happy with the weathering on the same scheme first time around.

The ubiquitous 'Chris Wauchop' mix of 95% Tamiya thinners with their Nato Black and Red Brown tinting it a dirty brownish black was loaded into the airbrush and gently 'drawn' into the panel lines at 15psi. The key lies in angling the model in the task lighting so the spray can be seen running onto the surface. The mix is thin enough to require 6-10 passes along a line before building up the desired density.

I've given up on pre-shading and will be concentrating on post base colour effects as this was the way discolouration built up on the real thing.

The digital camera hasn't been able to record the full subtleties discernible to the naked eye. Ho hum...

It may be basic but the kit's a blast. This one's staying out of the box with no add-ons.
