Cometracer
Hi, I recently discovered a Japanese website containing many paintings of aircraft, one in particular grabbed my attention. Although marked as a Japanese Hansa Brandenburg W.29, the top of the cowling is covered and the engine exhausts come out the sides, not the top as do those on the W.29. I understand Mitsubishi built the aircraft under license. I would be keen to learn if anyone knows more about this aircraft in Japanese service. Many thanks, Gary
Cornish
If you can get a copy, the Arawasi magazine from the end of last year does, it covers the W.29: http://www.arawasi.jp/salebook.hp/aramag/arawasimag7.html
KRK4m
Actually, the topic of this thread should be: Japanese Hansa Brandenburg - W29 or W33? Contrary to appearances, the topic is not trivial, and the number of sources insisting on W29 is more or less equal to those opting for W33. And both floatplanes "suspected" of Japanese production are practically indistinguishable in the pictures - until we put them side by side. Only then you can see that the W29 is roughly the size of a Typhoon or Hellcat, and the W33 is the size of an Avenger. Is there any definitive solution to this issue?
