Just found out a couple of new Airfix giftsets coming out and I know its all to easy to be negative about these things but the following makes me think who will buy this set.
25th Anniversary of Falklands set.
FRS1,GR3,Pucara,Dagger,Etendard, and a Skyhawk plus the usual useless little pots of paint, brush and a poster for £34.99
Am I getting tight and miserable in my old age or is the far too expensive?
Vince

Hello Dave,
Enlightenment below I hope, the captions read;
Vulcan B2 XM607 of No 44 (Rhodesia) Squadron at Nellis AFB, Nevada for Exercise Red Flag in 1977. I am grateful to crew-member Steve Oddy for this extremely rare shot of a Vulcan with desert camouflage on its underside. It is reported that the extra camouflage was of little use because the Vulcan was given away by its giant shadow. Copyright © Steve Oddy

Caption reads;
Avro Vulcan B2 XM595 of the Scampton Wing at RAF Scampton. Though technically still on the strength of the Scampton Wing, some free-fall aircraft allocated to No 27 Squadron received a Day-glo 'Dumbo' on returning from conversion from Blue Steel to free fall. 595 returned to Scampton in January 1970 and this photograph was probably taken later that year. To the left of the 'Dumbo' is a Dayglo goose, applied by a Goose Bay servicing team, but the origin of the Dayglo penguin at the top of the fin is unknown. © Charlie Stagg.

The Heller Mirage would be a pretty good starting point for the Dagger. There aren't that many 1/72 Pucaras and we know it isn't the Special Hobby version! As for the Skyhawk, is there a suitable candidate in 1/72?

It's an interesting mix of kits, with at first glance few being from the Airfix back catalogue. Given their previous connections with Italeri we can hope for their FRS1 and GR3, but suspect the latter may be Airfix.

The Heller Mirage is a start point, but needs the fin antenna. The Skyhawk - the Fujimi A-4B or C could be a candidate (Please not the old A-4A!!)

Yep, I've got a bad feeling about that Skyhawk!

The Italeri Super Etendard is a really nice kit. Haven't actually built it, but bought one intended as a quick build to get out of a rut, and was impressed with the surface detail. My first reaction was that it was a Fujimi or Hasegawa kit.
Jens
The Italeri kit is indeed a really nice kit, it is identically to the Academy kit but with better decals. Definately superior to the Heller offering, will be interesting to see which one they will go with.
