RAF Cosford 2007

Arrived at Cosford at about 7AM yesterday morning. The weather looked as if it was getting ready to pour, but it didn't thankfully a the sun eventually came out in the afternoon.

One major problem was, I had not been my usual effeicient self and recharged my batteries days prior to the show, so they were only about half charged, and as a result this seriously curtailed my photo taking - normally I have about 400-500 photos to choose from, and only managed to take 100 odd this time.

So heres some of my better shots.

This was the first part of the Red Arrows display. After they had split into the two groups for the second half, Red 10 annouced an incursion into the Airshows airspace, by as Andy(Beer Monster) so eloquently put it, tosspots/nobbers, which effectively cancelled the remainder of the show.

The RAF Falcons Parachute Team were supposed to open the Airshow with the usual jump from a Herk, but due to Operational commitments there were none available, so the BBMF Dakota was used to drop them during the afternoon

These next set of photos were of the latest demo routine from the RAF involving AWACS, Tornados, Chinook, Hercules, and I think troops (never got to see the runaway). The baddies were played by Hawks.

Whilst visually very impressive, once the Tornados started with their CAP, they drowned out the commentary, so you didn't realise what was going on. Nice to see them doing their thang together, rather than seperate.

I am bright red (is there shelf life for Sun Tan Lotion?) and to top it off my clutch just went on the way into work this morning, so waiting for Mr AA to tow me to Autoworld for fixing :crying:.

Blimey - weather looked a bit grim early on! Glad it got better for you. Like the two F-3's, I'll hopefully be seeing it a few more times so I'll be after something similar.

I enjoyed the role demo at Biggin, and as I was stood directly in front of a speaker about 6 feet away, the commentary was loud and clear. The pyro seems to have gotten everyone's attention, were they broadcasting warnings again? Seen for the angle of your pic it could easily be mistaken for something else by someone who hadn't been paying attention.

Steve.

Was a good day out - said a brief hello to IanT and Falconer at the Heritage Aviation stand. The soon to be released 1/24 Lightning is a real beast size wise, but it looked a real cracker from the bits I saw :speak_cool:

The static park and flying display was alas slightly bare compared even to previous Cosford shows, but its a sign of the times I guess! Typhoon solo was a cracker, set of so many car alarms where I was though, certainly a noisy beast. Role demo was good, would have liked to see the F3s flying a bit lower to begin with and maybe dropping flares and lighting the burners a bit. Only one GR4 as well, thought there was supposed to be 2? Suppose one could have gone tech....
