John
I was in my local branch of what used to be The Bargain Book Shop at the weekend and noted a couple of excellent books on sale at a mere £2 each. The first was this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Battle-Britain-Dow...7992&sr=1-4 which I believe is a reprint of this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Battle-Britain-Per...7992&sr=1-1 and well worth a read. Secondly, there was this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dambusters-Raid-Ca...8360&sr=1-1 which is simply the best book on the whole subject of dams and bouncing bombs there is. Both these deals are an absolute bargain - get 'em while they're hot! John
thx6667
Thanks for that John, will keep my eyes peeled in my remainder book shops. On a similar note, the cheapo bookshop in Wells was doing the Tamiya CD things for £6.99 each. They only had the Me 109 and P-51 in but say they are getting more. Seahawk
You might be interested to know that the Sweetman Lancaster book comes highly recommended by One Who Knows. You might recall the TV programme recently when one of the last remaining Dambusters revisited the dams. When the chap came to talk to Cornwall Aviation Society a while back, he specifically endorsed the Sweetman book as the one that rang most true for him, in fact he brought his copy with him to consult. Have to confess I haven't got terribly far into my copy yet: the detail of the early history of the idea of bomibng dams is a bit dry/overpowering.
