Hello

I am toying an idea to build an Italeri Fiat C.R.42 kit as a Battle of Britain aircraft, as flown by the italians from belgian airfields in 1940. As the kit's decals does not cover the topic, I am considering to buy the Skymodels decal sheet for C.R.42, either Part one or Part two, depending on the number of BoB aircraft present.. Can someone who has the set tell me if any fitting schemes are available there?

Cheers

Hello Peter, I've got sheet one which does not have any BoB markings, don't know about sheet 2 though.

On Hannants site its difficult to make out the wrtiting under the diagrams, but the bottom left one on this page looks as if it might be a Belgian-based one

Thanks!

Ill go for the number 2 then. I looked at the hannants pictures and there are plenty of 85 and 95 squadriglia's aircraft, and these were the units operating from belgium, so with a bit of luck I hope to get at least one proper aircraft. They also seem to have the markings for a british-captured example, during BoB, which would do as a backup ;)

If using the Italeri kit, remember DO NOT put on the flame damping long exhausts and bomb racks.

Example of BoB Fiat.

Yeah, its Italeri (C.R.42 AS) kit, got it damn cheap in a second hand heap at my dealer's shop. It also would require the modification of the tropical air filter to a standard one, not a big issue however.

If you're interested in some good walkarounds on the CR-42, this site has 3, with some pictures that are very interesting.

On the camouflage and the 2/3 colours controversy all I can say is that I know people who stopped to talk to each other because of this topic.. I'm glad I don't build WWII italian aircrafts !

Hi Steven,

FWIW, all of the intelligence material that I have on these aircraft from both the RAF and Farnborough state that the fuselage codes were grey-blue, shadowed black.

Now be a good boy and get that Eduard 110 finished eh! :D

Cheers

Dave
