Kfir C1

There is light at the end of the tunnel...

photo_39.jpg

I've done a little post-shading (Not really sure its the correct term).

At first, I've corrected the small errors on the camo, and then added a drop of white straight in the airbrush.

The effect looks good to me, but I'm not sure that it shows well in the pics, as I've taken them just a few minutes ago, and its already dark outside.

photo_40.jpg

Also painted the nose black, and the area around the DEFA.

I've put the centerline just to protect the small forward antennas.

Here they are, made of some leftover PE.

I've glued them no less than three times, with the pitot, as I've kept broken them today!

I hope this is the last time.

Lesson learned:

- Drill a small rabbet (?) for the PE to stand.

- Glue it with loctite ultra gel

- Then be very careful when you handle the kit!!!

"Kleared"

photo_42.jpg

Here is the bird after a little bit of work today, and a coat of klir.

Needless to say, a better planning in the building and painting would have save me a lot of time and troubles...

photo_43.jpg

The position lights, saved from drowning under the black paint...

photo_44.jpg

Special for Martin, the cut out.

(Already shown it???)

photo_45.jpg

And the nose, painted black, with the pitot in alclad white alu.

Next, following the well known precept from Mr Bond, "Klir and let dry", I'll leave the kit alone in is box fro a few days, away from the dust, before starting applying decals.

Thanks a lot.

Decals are next on the "to do" list.

A bad point for Isradecal here:

They say that there are stencil for three aircraft, and roundels also (But triangles only for one a/c).

But they didn't divide the stencil on the sheet in three parts, one per a/c, so for each one you have to go search it, and then cut it appart.

Not the easiest thing to do. And there's load of stencil for an 1/72 kit.

Needless to say, I'll take my time.

The afternoon's work.

Not really what I prefer in modeling.

2814853498_b677e7ca90_b.jpg

Closer.

I've preferred to paint the triangle to avoid a transparency effect on the camo.

But what I get is another transparency effect, with the white circle under the star of David on the black triangle's border...

The other side.

I'll let everything dry for a few days.

Then I still have to paint some dielectric panels, and the parachute cone.

And then, more weathering, trying some new techniques learned from some magazines.

That has come together beautifully

reminds me of David Suchet

'Time to Die American!' :D

Seriously - lovely markings and camo, very nicely done indeed :)

Ah, ok.

And I suppose the Bads were flying "Communist" Kfir C1?

:)

it was a fictional middle eastern bunch, loosely based on Iran methinks - lots of Israeli stuff used in filming , s***e film but fun for a 10 year old :)

Hello Antoine

That Kfir of you is coming along nicely, nice to see.

An the painting of the markings is a real plus.

(Le joint de la verrière à tribord aurait besoin d'un tit coup de Surfacer)

The canopy seam port side could use little Surfacer, too.

Nice anyway

Cheers

Forbidden to speak French here!

One more time and you'll be banned!

:smartass:

Thanks Stef,

I've seen the canopy problem.

I'll add a little retouch of paint, but I'm really afraid to do more, don't want to ruin everything at this stage.

In fact, the canopy is a little bit to narrow, I cannot see where the problem comes from otherwise.

COntinuation war...

Weathering.

photo_18.jpg

The tools.

But as you'll see, tam's tape is not the right tape for this work....

photo_19.jpg

What I want to do is to brush a tam smoke cloud straight in the panel lines perpendicular to the fuselage (And also some big ones at about 30°).

For obvious reasons, I'll start with the rear ones.

So I put the tape in place, to be able to brush in the line, and behind it.

Keeping the airbrush vertical, with low pressure/low rate of flow, I paint straight in the line.

Then, with the airbrush near horizontal, I take care of the area behind the line.

photo_20.jpg

The overall result.

photo_21.jpg

And a closer look at the damage done:

- The tape was too sticky.

- I didn't protect the decals enough, it seems that the two coats of future were too thinly applied.

Lesson learned.

Gear, doors, weapons.

Still got to get the AIM-9D from hannants...

Maybe next week, fingers crossed.

next week end, I'll do some small paint retouching, finalize the weathering, put on the nose gear door decals, and the Kfir will be ... Finished???

Hope so.

I've earned a Liv Kristine track for all my efforts
