Red Arrow Jag
I have read mixed reactions about this kit, can anyone shed some light on the build quality of the kit? What needs to be improved etc?? cheers
AnonymousA667
Good source of spares, especially the cockpit. Nose is short for a MkIX, prop blades don't seem right and the rad baths have a curious radius effect where they join the wing. Hasegawa is a far better bet, although it will be interesting to see how the new Airfix turns out. peebeep
Test Graham
Italeri is strong where the Hasegawa is weakest, namely the fuselage aft of the cockpit. It might look OK with a longer nose and decent prop, but then people would need to look at the rest of it rather than binning it straightaway..... Wait until later this year: Airfix are promising (threatening?) a new mould Spitfire Mk.IX. Until then Hasegawa certainly looks the nicest kit, if a bit short. alvin5182
Gotta go with the two previous folks. The Italieri kit is right up there with the Academy Mk XIVs. Good for spare parts. Interiors, glass, tailplanes, rads, filters etc etc etc. Go with the Hasegawa Mk IX. Fine detail and it looks like a Mk IX. Oh yeah................the prop (Italieri) is "garbage"! alvin5182 Edited May 4, 2008 by alvin5182
