leader3
'help required' i am looking for good referance material for the bell P39 airacobra when they were used by 601 (county of london) squadron as the Airacobra Mk1. i know they were only used for a limited ammount of time and referances seem few and far between. so can anyone point me in the right direction!! Thunderjug
the Crowood book by Robert F Dorr and Jerry Scutts has pics of these aircraft in it included in it is the description used by one RAF pilot as a "useless bag of W*$k" Don't think the Russians agreed with him though. Edgar
If you can find it, "Camouflage & Markings," no.12, has several photos, taken on a press day, and illustrations of variations in camouflage and code letters. If you can't find it, you can always borrow mine. With nine pages, I'd prefer not to scan, and I don't want to fall foul of copyright laws, either. dahut
Very nice fotos Jonathan. I noted how "undeveloped" the English countryside was around Duxford back then. I also thought the anti glider poles were a rather cool thing.
