RAF Sabres

was the sabre cockpit in RAF service painted as other RAF aircraft of the period mainly black also does anyone know approx how much to trim off the arms of the air brakes when they are open and drooped (academy 1/72) there is a realy good sabre site somewhere but i cant remember the address anyone know any links

Re the speed brakes - don't know if you're aware (most people aren't), but check the box art on the Hasegawa F-86F in Korean War markings. It's the ONLY place I've ever seen depicted how the speed brakes actually operate. The lower speed brake arm is a round section tube (as is the upper one, however..). The external skin fairing on the lower arm is not attached to the speed brake, it's piano hinged to the fuselage. It hinges downward, allowing the arm to swing past it. Thus, if building an accurate model, cut the flat 'arm' off the speed brake, glue it to the fuselage, and add a piece of sprue to represent the actual arm.
