  1. Currently building a Chonma-Ho I tank, and I'm looking for a KPV gun in 1/35 to replace the usual DSHk equipped on the T-62. So far I've only been able to find one on an out of production Military Wheels UAZ-469 kit, a 3D printed resin model that I can't buy because it's only available in Russia and a Trumpeter T-10M (I tried buying the specific sprues for the KPV but they can't be shipped to Ireland). Might end up just having to buy the T-10M kit for the gun alone if no other alternatives present themselves. Does anyone here know where I could source this elusive gun? Thanks
  2. After finishing seven Swedish WW2 tanks I started on some guns. We got the Flak30 that became 20 mm lvakan m/39 in Sweden First To Fight made a kit and they were built straight out of the box. As it contained two guns I decided to leave one on the carriage. Next was the Pak35/36. We got them in two batches. I used some kits from military UM technics for these. I wasn't to happy with all the etch in the kit as it made things complicated to build. The first batch was the standard gun with rubber wheels. It became the 37 mm pvkan m/39-43 in Sweden. The second batch had wooden wheels and was apparently intended for Turkey but ended up as a 37 mm pvkan m/40/43 instead. For this build I combined a modified gun from the Pak41 with the Soviet 45 mm Anti-tank gun as it was a development of the Pak 35/36. I read that the AT-guns were delivered in grey on which the camo colours were added. The only pic that I've seen of the Swedish Flak30 is museum pieces that are green but I opted for the same paint as on my AT-guns.
  3. I'm building an F6F 5 and need help with machine gun color. I've seen some black, a few silver and one Hellcat with the machine guns painted the same colors as the upper/lower surfaces of the wing. Which is correct?
  4. My friend is building the new Airfix 1/48 BP Defiant, and he was wondering if there were any aftermarket guns for the turret. I couldn't find anything listed at Hannants, but I may have been using the wrong search terms. Larry in Florida
  5. Fw 190A-5 Engine Set & Fuselage Guns Set 1:72 Eduard Brassin These sets are both designed for the new Eduard Kit. Engine Set This set provides a complete replacement engine and cowlings for the kit. There is a sheet of photo-etch and an amazing 21 resin parts. The casting on the resin is superb, some of the best from Eduard I have seen. There is a complete engine, mounting brackets and separate cowlings to be displayed of the model. A new resin front cowl, gear box and all new resin exhaust are included for the engine, and a new firewall for the airframe. The photo-etch fret provides the wiring harness for the engine as well as a myriad of small connector parts. Fuselage Guns Set This set provides a replacement set for the fuselage guns of the Fw 190. There is a sheet of phot-etch and 15 resin parts. All the resin parts are superbly moulded. As well as replacement guns there is a replacement fire wall, engine mounts, and back engine part which is seen when this area is open. There are two different gun covers provided but frustratingly nothing in the instructions indicating why, or which to use? The photo-etch sheet provides frames for the side of gun bay, and fixings for the guns & engine. There is also a frame for the front canopy. Combo If the modeller really want to push the boat out and invest in both of these sets then they are available boxed together. Conclusion The new Eduard Fw 190A-5 kit is great in it's own right. These sets will bring it up to a whole new level. Highly Recommended. Review samples courtesy of

  7. MG-14/17 Parabellum WW1 Gun 1:32 Eduard Brassin Continuing their range of 1:32 WW1 machine guns in the Brassin range, Eduard have logically released a Parabellum MG-14/17 as a follow up to their MG-14. The '/17' suffix was used in real life by the Germans to indicate that this is the revised 1917 version of the MG-14. The main visual difference is in the size of the barrel, which in this later version has a much reduced diameter slotted jacket. It also had other smaller modifications to make it easier to operate with gloved hands. MG-14/17's were used very widely on German multi seat aircraft throughout 1917 and 1918, particularly as the weapon for the rear gunner/observer on two seaters. The guns come in the standard Brassin bubble pack, with parts for two complete models, and the resin is to Eduard usual high standard, sharply moulded with very fine detail and no sign of any air bubbles. The gun barrels and sights have protective arms on the moulding blocks to keep them safe from damage until they reach your workbench. The brass fret contains the magazine drum ends and handles, sights, and mounting brackets for the Oigee sight. Thoughtfully, Eduard have provided double the amount of most these, so when the carpet monster eats some, you still have more. A nice touch. The detail on these guns is amazing, and they will look fabulous once assembled and painted. They were mostly mounted in a highly visible position on top the rear fuselage, so will form a highly detailed focal point of the model. Highly recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  8. MG-14 Parabellum WW1 Gun 1:32 Eduard Brassin The Parabellum MG-14 was a widely used German machine gun, designed from the outset for airborne use. It was comparatively light, and had an excellent rate of fire. The vast majority were used on flexible mounts as weapons for Observer/Gunners on two (or more) seater aircraft, rather than on fixed forward firing mountings for pilots. An exception was the Fokker Eindekker, some of which had MG-14's fixed to the upper forward fuselage to fire through the propeller. This new release in the Eduard Brassin range will therefore be applicable to a large number of German WW1 machines. Presented in the sturdy Brassin blister pack the resin parts are backed with foam sponge to protect them, whilst the etched brass fret is secured against the flat of the header section. Two complete MG-14's are supplied, with the stock, body, and ammo drums in resin, and the detail parts in etched brass. The resin is beautifully cast with very sharp definition and detail, and should be easily removed from the pouring stubs. The etched brass contains the fretted jackets so typical of many WW1 German guns, the sights, trigger mechanisms, and end plates/mounts for the ammo drums. The modeller will have to supply their own length of rod for the barrel, evergreen .035 rod is suggested, although I personally prefer brass rod for this sort of task. These look like they will assemble into very fine little MG-14's, and as the Observer/Gunners position is often the focal point of many German 2-seaters, be a welcome addition to any model. Having 2 in the pack will of course cover 2 models, or if you have the Wingnut Wings Gotha, arm the mid upper and nose gunners stations. Highly recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  9. Vickers Mk.1 WW1 Guns. 1:32 Eduard Brassin. Developed from the Maxim Machine gum, Vickers improved the basic design by lightening it and using high strength alloys on key components. The ground based weapon had a water cooling system, but this was not found necessary when mounted on aircraft as the slipstream kept the gun cool, although the water cooling jacket was retained. It was very suitable for for use with synchronising system that enabled rounds to be fired through the spinning propeller, and thus widely used on British and French aircraft from 1916 onwards. The Brassin set provides 2 guns, with the main parts cast in resin with beautifully defined detail. Etched brass supplies brackets, sights, and a choice of 2 different cocking levers. The obvious place to use these will be on Wingnut Wings kits, where they will add that extra touch of detail to already beautiful models. Given that the gun was used well beyond the end of the First World War, and into the Second on the Gladiator and Swordfish, there are plenty of subjects that will benefit from a set of these. Highly Recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  10. Hi, before I start I have no affiliation with this company what so ever. I just thought that any builders of 1/700 US or RN warships should take a look at this site. http://www.3dmodelparts.com/ship-accessories/?sort=featured&page=2 I received my order of octuple pom pom's today and am totally amazed at the quality of the parts. These are 3D printed in acrylic resin and are very fine, they are much easier than photo-etch and have 3D barrels. They can also be set at any elevation, so are ideal for diorama's. I hope that some one finds a use for these as I think they are amazing. There are several different weapons and a few structure parts available. Mick ps, I have been chatting to the owner and he is asking for suggestions on his new items.
  11. I plan to build a Hurricane IIb from the Far East/Burma Campaign, either Z5659 or AP894 flown by W.J. Storey or BE171 by J.F. Barrick, as their markings can be made up from aftermarket sheets and generic serial number/roundel decal sheets. The Osprey book on Hurricane Aces 1941-45 lists all three as Hurricane IIbs, but then has Z5659 on the cover (and the colour profile later on) portrayed with only eight guns. Is this a mistake on the artist's part, or were the outer 4 guns sometimes removed to improve performance like the outboard cannon of some IIcs or (so I read somewhere) the wing guns of some Buffalos? Thanks in advance for your replies.
