  1. Avro Canada CF-100 Canuck - or 'Clunk' as it was known by the canadians. Hoping to do the Belgian version but I still have some research to do - and have to acquire the decals. The kit is the gun armed version - the belgians flew the wingtip pod FFAR armed version, not sure yet whether it can be done from this box. If everything fails, I'm building the canadian version. OK looking white plastic, it looks bit simplified in places but I think we can make a decent looking model out of it. Aftermarket that I am thinking in addition to the decals are the seats.
  2. Belgian Air Force CF-100 Mk 5 Canuck Kit: Hobbycraft CF-100 All-Weather Fighter (HC1391) Scale: 1/72 Aftermarket: Modeldecal decals and Iroquois Models seats Paints: Hataka Red Line and Vallejo Model Air and Vallejo Metal Color Weathering: Flory Models Wash, Tamiya & MiG weathering products Not a bad kit at all of this little bit more obscure plane. Quite simple cockpit and wheel details but other than that looks like a nice and detailed kit. Added wing extensions from plasticard, the version in the box is Mk.4 and Belgians used Mk.V with the extended wings. Main camo painted with Hataka Red Line acrylics, my first proper paintjob with Hataka paints. Built for Interceptors GB Build thread:
  3. Hi all, my latest offering to the modelling gods! A bit of a struggle all round, not helped by the many trials and tribulations thrown up by Real Life during 2020... Anyway that aside, for the most part it was a fun build - the headaches were, as is my habit, almost entirely self-created. The WIP thread, for anyone interested, can be found here. Aircraft of this type were the mainstay of the RFC training units in Canada during WW1. The markings depict an aircraft of 'C' Flight, 88 Canadian Training Squadron, 44 Wing based at Armour Heights Field, Toronto, during 1917/18. One of several very interesting photos I found on-line was of this very aircraft, in flight over Central Ontario: (Image in the public domain) Hawk-eyed individuals will note, perhaps with the same level of incredulity as I did, the presence of the trainer on the wing adjacent to the trainee's cockpit whilst approximately one thousand feet above the ground - no doubt explaining to his pupil, in words of one syllable, the fundamentals of flight! So without further delay, here are a set of photos of the finished article: Thanks to everyone who looked in, commented etc on the build, your interest was much appreciated. Comments and criticisms, as ever, welcome
  4. Emerged from the limbus the MasterCasters (now Iroquois Models) new resin cockpit set is dedicated to the venerable 1/48th Hobbycraft/Kitech Avro Canada CF-100 Canuck kits (Mk.IV ref. HC1650 and Mk.V ref. HC1654). Quoted MST 48006 this upgrade set is available for pre-ordering. https://www.mastercasters.co.uk/product-range/iroquois-models/ Not in the pictures but incl in the set is a vacuform complete canopy as well as a vacuform part for the clear coaming in front of the navigator/wso position. 5. Greetings. I'd like to announce, that by popular demand, 1:48 scale Avro CF-105 Arrow markings are now available from Canuck Model Products. For those that have one of the old Hobbycraft kits sitting in their stash, now you can finish it up properly. Package comes with two sheets, all stencil and warning markings, numbers for all 5 MK1 prototypes, intake bleed ramp markings, and complete wing walkway lines. enjoy David
  6. Italeri has released some test shot photos and decal images of their new 1:32 scale CF-104 / F-104G boxing. It looks like an improved version of the Hasegawa kit. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.544555952283696.1073741837.454765391262753&type=1 There are multiple issues with the RCAF markings and the stencils appear to be genericized (so not accurate to the RCAF). Looks like it has both types of seats (covering both the CF-104 and F-104G) but the forward IP looks to be only the F-104G type. Canuck Models offers correct markings for this era and I have other Starfighter sets in the works. So if you're planning to build an RCAF version, you'll be covered. thanks David
