With my Kulula 737 nearing completion, I'm embarking on my next project, which again has an African subject. As part of my overview of the Rhodesia / Zimbabwe air force I wanted to build a Chengu J-7 in Zim colours. Looking for kits I came across the Hasegawa boxing, which contains two kits (quite possibly for the price of two ). I really like the colour scheme of the J-7s in Namibian service, so I decided on that for the second model. Pictured below is the box top, one set of sprues (the box contains two), the decals (from Mavdecal) and my reference material.

Hello all. Just like several others in this STGB I'll be building the Revell 1/72 Hunter FGA.9. The plan is to build two planes, one in the 1960s colours of the Royal Rhodesian Air Force (Green/Grey over HSS) and one in the early 1980s Zimbabwe AF colours. If things go really well, I might dig up my third copy of my kit from my secondary stash at my parents' home and build a 1970s bird as well (RhAF, Green/Earth over Earth). There have been a couple of sprue shots, but I don't think anyone has shown them unwrapped yet, so here you go. Those with an encyclopaedic knowledge of third-party decal offerings might recognise the Xtradecal International Hunters sheet, which will be providing the markings. The first painting has started

Mangwanani fellow modellers. Keeping up with my African theme, here's Air Zimbabwe Flight UM 468 from Johannesburg about to touch down at Harare International Airport : Zvezda's A320 with a mix of home-made decals, paintwork and other bits and bobs. Struggled with just about everything on this build, but finished it just in time for the Airliner Group Build next month - Hooray (I think......) Thanks for looking. mike (Perhaps one day I'll get to make the journey ?)
