  1. Click here to visit my new YouTube channel, Set up April 16th 2021. This channel features the building being made in this WIP, and is my first ever YouTube vid: https://youtu.be/nvWmurqmA_o I am starting this thread now because my 'FACE OFF' Sherman is nearing completion... AT LAST. I'd got it to a stage where I could call it 'Finished' for entry into the GB Gallery, but always intended to carry on with it afterwards. It's taken more time than I had thought, mostly because I've been building/painting models every day for well over a year and a half now and after the GB I needed to slow things right down! (Oh, I still have the figures to do, but there's no hurry for those.) For those who didn't follow the GB, my Sherman was inspired by a Sherman that was active in the Bastogne region during the Battle of the Bulge and photographed in January. The Sherman had extra armour added to the glacis - in fact it had almost an entire donor glacis bolted and welded over its own. It also had armour added to the turret cheeks. There were also signs of it having once been whitewashed, but the whitewash had been.... er... washed off. My Sherman depicts the Easy Eight in an earlier state, with full, but heavily worn and dirtied winter camo at the onset of warmer weather and the start of the thaw. The diorama will depict the Sherman at a 'pit stop'. Snow will feature heavily, but so will mud and puddles as the thaw was quite rapid. I did consider using a mostly scratchbuilt ruined house as a scenic piece.... which I originally made for my 'Ever Evolving Diorama'... but it may be too large for the size of base I envisaged. I may up the size of the dio if I can't get it to look right on the base I have now. Anyway, I have a bit more work to do on the Sherman, so I'll say 'I hope to see you here soon'. Rearguards, Badder Just to whet your appetites, here's the 'nearly finished' Sherman (sans figures, aerial, kit bag on the glacis and two guard plates on the front fenders) ......in a scale winter setting.......
  2. OK so I'll be building this oldie, first made in 1974... I managed to pick it up in a local hobby shop recently (well not very local to me these days but there's the internet and I thought in these uncertain times local shops could do with some support). Price paid (hope we don't have to include postage!)... Looking forward to building it - shouldn't be too complicated, no decals or PE to worry about and I have fond memories of building a couple of Tamiya Ford M151 Mutt kits as a kid (newer toolings though). I'll post the sprue shots, etc. once I get started (planning to try finish or at least move along my Unarmed GB entry first).
  3. Dear fellow Britmodellers, here's my 1/72 Dragon Willys Jeep with Armored Cab. Built from the box, with the addition of Black Dog stowage items. Painted with Gunze/Mr.Hobby acrylics, pictures by Wolfgang Rabel. The Dragon kit contains two complete models with various optional weapons. The armor shield and radiator protection are photo-etch parts. I added ammo boxes and stowage from Black Dog. Greetings from Vienna! Roman
  4. Forgot to add photos to my other post... I picked up this kit for cheap a few weeks ago. It's officially the "WWII U.S. Infantry at Rest" kit No. 52, with several figures in various poses. The "Light Vehicle" kit is a bonus. It also includes several gas cans, barrels, and soft stowage items that I can hang on the tanks or in the Jeep. I haven't painted the figures or stowage items up yet. It is a nice little kit. Fun to build and paint. Photos with and without flash. With flash highlights some of the "mud" splashed on it. I just finished re-reading Steven Ambrose's "Citizen Soldiers", and the guys he interviewed said mud was a constant feature of army life in the field.
  5. Just finished this 1:24 Willys Jeep which will go into a diorama along with the Matador/Coles Crane and a Hawker Typhoon use by the Royal Canadian Air Force 440 Squadron at air strip B9/Lantheuil, Normandy, Aug 1944. Scratch built quite a bit, you can see this in my WIP Armour section. Last couple of pictures with the Accumulator which also will be part of the diorama Regards Richard
  6. Afternoon chaps, Now it has most certainly been a while since I have posted here, after having a break from modelling over Christmas. However, while getting back into the routine I have managed to bash up this old thing It's the first model I've made in a couple of months and the first I've made with clear parts/transparencies so the windscreen didn't turn out as I expected. It is also the first model with the "Wet Mud" effect using filler, brown acrylic paint and Klear. It is built completely OOB apart from some additional extras in the trailer found in the Spares Box. The next thing I'm building is a J-35J Saab Draken and a LCVP boat Specs: Willys Jeep With Trailer (USA) 1st US Infantry Division Normandy, France 6th June 1944 D-DAY Here she is Sorry if the pictures aren't up to scratch in quality, they were taken on my new iPad but they're alright I guess Thanks for looking fellas please comment with improvements etc. ~Dylan
