  1. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/royal-air-force-unveils-new-union-jack-colour-scheme-for-their-display-aircraft-b1856152.html See link for yet another (as if we didnt know who we are) Union flag colour scheme. Good work by the spray bay but definitely not my thing....subtle is ain't ...i always thought that was the point of roundels. Still the the chinook fleet is grounded I wonder if Typhoons are next following this garishness 😬
  2. Apologies if this is in the wrong section. I'm afraid I know very little about trains but my mate's son loves them and we wanted to get him a train book for his 11th birthday. Any suggestions!? He's pretty knowledgeable so nothing too childish, but plenty of nice photos, line drawings/profiles etc like you can get for aircraft. Any books with the diesels and electric ones in rather than history or steam engines, maybe like 80s, 90s onward? Thanks!
  3. Do any of the boxes of the FGR.2 or F-4M match the quality of the FGR.1 with the art flying by the oil rig?
  4. If you were around in early 70's you might remember Mr Walton and his Nord 1002/BF108 painted as a 109 being "shot down " regularly by various Spits and Hurris at airshows. That and his monstrous Aeronavale painted Corsair. Sadly Lindsey has taken his final flight but for those of us lucky to catch him in past decades, his "109" as she is these days:
  5. UK Phantom replacement Exhausts, Intake ramps & pylons. 1:72 Aerocraft Models - For Airfix Kit The new 1/72 Airfix UK Phantom was a very welcome kit. However it is lacking in a couple of areas. These three new sets have been made by Ali of Aerocraft models. All three sets come in a double style of packaging which is done to reduce the cost ratio for shipping. This though is a bad move which will encourage the modeller to buy more kits Exhausts The new exhausts are 3D printed and are a direct replacement for the kit parts. Detailed Intake Ramps The new ramps address the issue of the missing vents on the top and bottom of the intake ramps. Also included in the set are new inserts for the rear fuselage by the exhausts. A small amount of kit surgery will e needed for this set. Unarmed Inner & Outer Pylons In this set you get new unarmed inner and outer pylons for the Phantom. The inner pylons can have the sidewinder rails mounted or not. The outer pylon was used on some occasions when the tanks were not fitted. The mounting plates at the top of the pylons are included as well. The new parts are direct replacements for the kit parts. Conclusion It is great to see Ali back in the game and this is certainly an interesting set of items 1/72 with the new Airfix Phantom out there. Highly recommended. Review samples courtesy of
  6. Can anyone here help me find a supplier in the UK that sells virtually all the items needed to make their own photo-etch? I have looked at loads of youtube tutorials on how to do it but they seem to refer to US suppiers, with some brands we can't get in the UK. I would really like to find an on-line shop that not only supplies the materials but perhaps also has a help-line, to discuss what I need etc., as I am only just starting on this. Thanks in advance for any helpful information. Mike
  7. Hi there, Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but I can't seem to find any Dullcoats or Matt Finishes, as stated in the title. I've done the gloss - decal - gloss, and now my model is quite glossy, and I just can't seem to get a hold of any dullcoats etc. My first port of call would be a Physical Hobby Shop, like Hobbycraft. If you can confirm an online shop is reliable, then I'll happily order from them. Thanks in advance.
  8. Borrowed a better camera, enjoy Alex
