  1. Dear fellow modelers, Posting my first full resin creation, it is the rendering of the Sharkit SNCASO Dever, a "paper plane" out of the 50's This company produced also some aircraft which actually made it into flight testing, such as the Trident for example. A fabulous era, when nothing seemed impossible and every month a new project came alive. The Dever reminds me also of "Blake n Mortimer", "Tintin", "Yoko Tsuno" and "Buck Danny" comic stripes in which similar rockets and planes can be seen. Dever: Sharkit Citroen HY: l'Arsenal 2.0 Ground Crew: Hasegawa & Italeri (ex ESCI) Missile: Sharkit Missile dolly: Scratch evergreen (+ wheels from Hasegawa) Windsock: AIM72 Metal Colors: K-Colors Decals came from various bit n pieces On to the pics: Hope you like it Cheers b.
  2. This is the 1/72 Sharkit resin-and-vacuform kit of the Edgley Optica. It's a pretty basic kit, and even to build the yellow G-BGMW prototype (which is what the kit is intended for) it would benefit from some detailing inside the cockpit and at the rear of the ducted fan nacelle. But I wanted to reproduce the Optica that flew in the cult-but-dire movie Slipstream (1989). This needed some modification of the prototype version: an extension to the upper nacelle and elevator trim tab, shrouds on the undercarriage, an overhead control box and wider instrument panel in the cockpit, flow directors on the upper wing surfaces ... in addition to the necessary pitot tube, sundry aerials, landing lights, a stone guard on the front wheel, control columns and rudder pedals, and rear support struts for the engine. And some other bits and bobs. In addition, I printed up decal sheets to reproduce, as best as I could, the feathered patterns on wings and nacelle, and the odd symbol on the tail. Build log is here: It's a resolute tail-sitter, with no room for added weight in the very open and thin-floored cockpit. I've made no effort to photographically conceal the short transparent rod that props up the back of the nacelle. Edited to add: here are a few views on the Coastal Kits "Abandoned Airfield" display base, which arrived in the post today.

  4. I've wanted to build a model of this eccentric little aircraft for years. Maybe I should have waited to see what the planned release from Avis looks like, but in the meantime here's the basic resin and vacuform kit from Sharkit. Very basic, as you see. The kit also includes decals for G-BGMW, shown on the box art above, but at present I'm toying with other plans. The moulding is pretty clean, but undetailed. A couple of minor holes to fill, and those five pour stubs in the fan duct to remove. I'll add some detail to the cockpit, which at present consists of three seats and a blank instrument panel. The main challenge is going to be the vacuform cockpit canopy, which is intended to wrap around the outside of the assembled cockpit. Two parts are provided for this, but one of them has a nasty crease in my kit, so that ups the ante a little more. The instructions suggest painting only the resin parts, and not the overlying vacuform, but that's going to be an ugly effect. So I'd like to paint the vacuform itself, but that means making myself some interestingly curved paint masks. I also suspect that this one will want to sit on its tail, and there's really nowhere to conceal lead in the nose. Maybe a flight stand, maybe glue it to a solid display base? I'm not sure yet.
