Hi guys! So i'm afraid i've very much caught the submarine bug. Having started with the Kursk here, I've moved onto Bronco's HMS Vanguard, one of the 4 SSBNs handling our nuclear deterrent. The kit is simply stunning to put it simply, there's so much detail from the towed sonar array right towards the bow sonar. I painted the submarine three different shades of black (believe me I did! The photo set up I've got is a bit rough though...) to account for the sections below and above the waterline as well as the main 'deck' and fin. The bow sonar dome is Tamiya acrylic gloss black and the trident missile is simply NATO green and white. Weathering was kept basic because 1. This is only my second submarine so I'm trying to keep things easy for myself and 2. the reference photos I saw of it showed it to be relatively clean. Again, sorry for the quality of the photos, they may just look like variable photos of a black pudding but thanks for looking! Sam

Look what the postman just delivered....... The latest 1/350 scale submarine kit from the ever productive Mikro-Mir ..... and it's BRITISH !! The hull is in two vertically-split halves - minus the missile decking (which aids conversion) The decking - plus sail, dive planes, masts etc are on a separate sprue..... The package is finished off with an etched brass propeller and a simple decal sheet (why are British subs so plain? - not even a pennant number) The instruction sheet is a simple exploded diagram...... .... and a simple painting guide - black, black or.......... black. This is a very welcome addition from Mikro-Mir - if sales are good, maybe we will get more British submarine types. Thanks Mikro-Mir  Ken

Blimey its big, even in 1/350th. Not quite as nice a mould as the Hobbyboss Astute or the Airfix Traf, but makes an excellent comparison. As supplied in the box, it is missing a few key details (like flank arrays), but I resisted the impulse to try to add them as scratching in this scale is beyond me. Oh and I had what was in effect an ND of a Trident D5, which the carpet monster now has (hence the empty port launch tube ). FredT

I have bought a 1:400 scale Revell Typhoon class SSBN from Shar2, however I am slightly impatient and want to have a look at the i instructions for it....before it arrives at my home.... Does anyone happen to know where I can find a PDF of these instructions. I have spent absolutely ages tonight trying to find them, but have not succeeded.... Any help gratefully recieved.
