As much as I enjoy watching other people work, particularly on Group Builds, I've never been able to get fully into the spirit of it (working and group builds before you ask!). However I made a commitment to this one so here I am, lets see if I can get something finished within the allotted timescale. I had agreed with Col that I could build my PJ Production F4 which I had started many years ago but never got past gluing the cockpit into one of the fuselage halves but there are some complications with this scheme that have made me think again. Firstly it's a resin kit which needs a little more patience and time to complete, obviously not good for someone working against the clock who takes a time to build anything anyway. Then there is the fact that the kit came with a chunk of wingtip missing which will need careful repairs so all that adds up to a refusal at the first fence. Instead I've dived deep into the stash and hauled out one of my Revell Hunters and some of the AM goodies hidden within (it was like Christmas all over again as I discovered things long since forgotten buried in there, a bit like some old Viking hoard buried in the garden). Yes, I'm rambling on a bit, it's all part of the procrastination technique that I use to put off having to actually do anything and has served me well all these years. With no further ado here's the first photo and then maybe the plan. Obviously that's only part of the proposed stash as I haven't taken photos of the Decal sheets or reference books yet but the basic plan maybe is as follows: Option one, build out of the box and paint up as a 43 Sqn F6 from RAF Leuchars in 1959, the most obvious and straight forward option for actually getting something finish. Option two, build it using one of the conversion sets I have and back date it to an F4 of either 222 Sqn or 43 Sqn RAF Leuchars, a bit more involved but doable. Option three, do the same as Option two but call it an F1 of 43 or 222 Sqn from RAF Leuchars. So whatever happens at least we can say it will be a Hunter from Fife. I was going to say something stupid like if I finish this one with time to spare then maybe I can have a go at the PJ Production Hunter after, nah that WAS stupid! I promise to make a start today as Col will be checking up on me tonight at the Club meeting so I'd better do something or else . Duncan B
