  1. The Canadian Quad gun tractor a fine old kit from yesteryear sits in my build queue and I have a paint question. Presumably the Quad would have been painted in a dark green in Canada then had #61 Light stone applied in a divisional repair shop , correct? If so would the interior and under hood- correction bonnet🙄 -areas be left in the dark green? This of course assumes the Quad in question was delivered for use in North Africa. Well, how thorough were the Royal Army painters? (and would the Canadian army use Royal Army paint standards for the green?)
  2. Quad Gun Tractor BRITISH ARMY NORTH AFRICA TAMIYA 1/35 Hi everyone I built Tamiyas classic Quad in May 2014 after picking it up cheap on ebay. The kit came with Eduards PE set and, in addition to that, I scratch built a few extra details. The stowage came mainly from a Bronco British equipment set. The figures are MiniArt with Hornet heads and the base is a square of plasterboard covered with Vallejo texture paste. It was always my favourite when looking through the Tamiya catalogue as a kit so I'm glad I've finally been able to build it. It was first issued the year after I was born and after 40+ years, the fit and finish of the kit is distinctly better than that of the builder! Hope you enjoy the shots Thanks for looking Andy
  3. Hi All, I built this in my last year at University as a distraction from revision when it got a bit too much. That was way back in 1976. Must have worked, as I got my degree... Anyway here are the pictures: Not too shabby for a 41 year old model. even if I say so myself. Nothing has fallen off, and I have hardly done anything to it apart from the occasional dusting. Thanks for looking, Alan.
  4. Hi, lads. My T-55 is still not done, but i got a liitle fed up with that project. So i decided to start with somethin new and finish it really fast. Ther is modelling contest in town in two weeks and i intend to go there with that little truck. Quad Gun Tractor is a Tamiya's golden oldie. It has been molded in 1976. I'm going to build it straight out of box. No PE parts, no resin. Focus will be put on painting and weathering techniques. That's it. Here's what i've got so fat: That's the thing. And here's what's inside the box. First i started with engine. Easy to build. All the parts fit very well. Wheels done, tyres not glued yet. Aaaand a ilttle overview. So far, it's fast and easy. 14 days left to contest
  5. First post here, lads. This is Tamiya's 1/35 Quad Gun Tractor. I built it straight out of box. Painted with Pactras, weathered with AK-47's products. The tow chain on front bumper is also AK-47. It is also my first finished kit after 10+ break i modelling hobby. Any contructive criticism is more than welcome. Enjoy. There is a workbench topic i WIP section. Aaaand some details and overviews in B/W OK. That is it. A lot to watch. And judge
  6. Ok so this is going to be my first wip on here. Ive completed a few plane kits and one or two small afv's but hopefully this will end in a diarama. After following alpha deltas thread of the same kit i had to have a go at these little beauty's. I apologise now for being incredibly slow and look forward to hearing what you all think. I started the first quad with the plan to do a simple oob build but i got a load of evergreen stuff off of the web and have been fascinated by what some of you can do with scratch building and being creative so i couldn't help myself. I warn you now it will not be accurate to the real thing but a practice board for me to learn with, so far i have built the trailer adding some brakes and lighting cables also wire handles and some nuts and bolts. Also ive scratch built a new exhaust. Ok ill sort some pics out ythank you Joe.
  7. Yamaha 450 Grizzly Quad + Trailer as used by The British Army, pics thanks to Ruari.
