  1. It has been a while since I did a WiP here due mainly to GB's and ships. So, here is an unusual aircraft, a Bisnovat SK-1 in 1/72 using the resin Prop & Jet kit. I know nothing of this aircraft except that it looks cool and according to Wiki it puts this aircraft into the same 'role, configuration, era' as the Heston Napier Racer & the Me 209V1. Box art Resin stuff Instructions and masks. We modellers don't need to be multilingual as fortunately they have detailed pictures to guide our way. No decals are needed...no markings, just a red nose and 'go faster' stripes, so we have a masking set. Look Terry @Terry1954, Martin @RidgeRunner a flying thing. Stuart
  2. I will not be surprised if you haven't ever heard about this funny little aircraft http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikoyan-Gurevich_MiG-8 All of a sudden two companies have released kits in 1:72 Prop & Jet http://propjet.ucoz.ru/news/mikojan_samolet_utka/2013-09-02-24 and AVIS http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/BX72013 I was among those few lucky ones who obtained Prop & Jet kit - what a little resin gem! The instruction mentions that 3g of weight should be added to the nose
  3. I originally intended to also build the Eduard (Zvedzda) 1/48 La-5 and the Modelsvit 1/72 Su-7 in this GB. But considering my abmisal track record in finishing my GB participation last year of 0%, I made a tough decision in just building the 1/32 Special Hobby Yak-3. When I ordered the Begemot decals for the Yak-3, I also purchased the 1/72 Prop & Jet La-5F resin kit from the same seller (not really knowing what to expect) as the price was right. The kit arrived yesterday and upon opening it, it was written all over "build me .... build me" and it would be rood not doing so specially as we don't have a Lavochkin Fighter in the GB yet. And what a smashing kit it is. I thought S.B.S. models are the ultimate resin kits, but this kit is equal or even better with unbelievable surface detail. If all fits as well as it looks it will be a winner. and as an extra bonus, the kit is also made in Russia! I have to say that the whole package has a very professional feel to it. There is only one problem .... which scheme to choose. At the end I selected the aircraft from Major Pyotr Nikiforovich Belyasnik who scored nine individual and 17 group victories flying with 126 IAP, but none of them on this aircraft. I wanted to make an aircraft with victory stars painted on it. Also the old style stars on the grey camouflage look different and the presentation script is an extra bonus. And there is even a good picture of this aircraft taken during 1943. Once again, there is more information on these pages. This build will be a good reason to read Learstang's book on the Lavochkin Fighters I purchased last year Cheers, Peter
  4. The real thing The model Build thread: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234964803-172-prop-jet-mig-ytka-duck/ Thanks for watching
  5. Not much is known about Moskalev SAM-9. It was built and successfully tested in 1937, allegedly the first ever successful delta wing design. Article in Russian with blurry heavily retouched photo: http://www.airwar.ru/enc/xplane/sam9.html The kit itself was already mentioned on Britmodeller: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234961223-172-moskalev-sam-9-strela-resin-kit-by-prop-jet-released/ As usual with Prop & Jet - a little resin wonder. Took me about a week to complete - I fell like I have beaten Usain Bolt Along with another abomination
