Hi all, This one straddles this section as well as the WW2 section. My question is about the cable aerial that is often, but not always, seen running from the leading edge of the fin and the upper fuselage on the starboard side and behind the canopy. My understanding previously has been that this was/is purely for ferry flying. I have believed that to be true as evidenced by many former Latin machines that have found their way back to the US or have been prepared for ferry back to Central/South America post-maintenance. The assumption has ben that this was removed before or after such trips. My question is whether this is true. Also, does the same apply to the cable aerial that is often seen from fin through the canopy and in to the cockpit? Here's an example (first image) https://www.aerialvisuals.ca/AirframeDossier.php?Serial=21937 As always, I'd really appreciate your expert thoughts! Martin

More Air National Guard Mustangs (48036) 1:48 Iliad Design Iliad have sent us some of their latest releases, this one being their second sheet for US Air National Guard Mustangs. Post WWII nearly all the US ANG units had the P-51D later designated the F-51D. Arriving in a ziplok bag, each set has a set of profiles as the cover page, with the decal sheet visible on the flipside so you can readily see what you're buying with the flick of a wrist. The printing is up to their usual standard, having good registration, colour density and sharpness, with a thin carrier film cropped close to the printed areas. The instructions are printed next to the profiles, with relevant points marked with arrows, and on the reverse are overhead views with the same arrowed captions. The sheet provides decals for 4 States ANG Units. The schemes are; 1. Oklahoma 125th Fighter Sqn. 2. Minnesota ANG 3. Texas ANG, based at Ellington Field. 4. Washington ANG, 116th Fighter Sqn. Hi all! My latest two completions, a pair of RAF highback Mustangs. First up is the Accurate Miniatures Kit converted to a Mk.1 using the Ultracast conversion. Wing panel lines filled to simulate the putty used by NAA. Eduard Seatbelts, prop and exhaust stolen from an Eduard P-39 kit. Tamiya paints including a home-made 'Mixed Grey' from Tamiya MSG and Black. Decals from the Spares box to represent and aircraft of 26 Squadron. AM148 later became a test aircraft for Rolls-Royce. I'm sure this is a lovely kit however my butchery to fit the Ultracast conversion didn't help!!! Second is the Tamiya P-51B built as Mk.III. Wing panel lines filled again, Eduard seatbelts, Rob Taurus vac canopy. Tamiya paints and Techmod decals to represent the aircraft of Sqn Ldr Bohdan Arct of 316 (Polish) Squadron. He bailed out of this aircraft and was captured in September 1944 after an engine failure. Not much else to say about the Tamiya kit, it's an absolute beauty! As with the Fw190 thread, apologies for the out of focus pictures. It's 50 degrees outside and I don't want to go back outside to take new ones! Thanks for looking, Chris
