  1. Hi all and just finished this one for a 'What If' GB elsewhere. Build thread is here but to recap: Kit: 1/72 PM Models Ta-183 Build: Mostly OOB Extras: Tape for belts and some plasticard in the u/c bays. Cut the one-part canopy open Paints: Revell Acrylics by airbrush, mottle effect with some kitchen sponge. Panel line wash. Decals: Some from the kit, others from the spares for JG7, 1945 A small kit...here beside an Airfix Fw-190 Not the most detailed kit by a long-shot but as a blank canvas to try out new skills or for those just getting into the hobby, I think it makes for a nice little build. Thanks for looking! Dermot
  2. I've always held a fascination for experimental aircraft, or those that never made it off the drawing board, or those that are just plain odd. For Luft-46, this is quite a restrained design, and had it actually existed, I would probably be less interested in it. It didn't, so it becomes instantly desirable. I made a few relatively minor improvements to the kit (mainly to the undercarriage & belly radiator), but it would build quite nicely out of the box. Well done to Tumpeter for kitting something so unusual. I've used very few of the kit decals, but only because I hate decals, most of the markings are from home-made stencils, and the camouflage is about as real as the aircraft. As usual, I've overdone the weathering, when will I learn? This is the AMTech Ta 183 that I built at the same time as the 509. If you are interested in the WIP: Thanks for looking and if you aren't Luft-46ed out by now, there is also my Ta-183 build which I bought on the same day as the 509, and did as a dual build. (I nearly put 'duel' build, “You cad, I challenge you to an Airfix 109!”).
  3. I've been after this kit for a while but wasn't willing to pay the silly prices they often go for – this one was bargain so I couldn't resist. I've seen reviews, but somehow I was expecting a better quality kit that it turns out to be – quite basic in many respects. Built out of the box – with lots of improvements (that bit is just to annoy @MAD STEVE) but no after-market stuff. The biggest improvement is to give it an air-intake, as the kit has a blocked nose. If I had know what a pain it would be, I would just have done a FOD cover. Live and learn. Most of the markings are done with home-made stencils and the seatbelts are printed on paper. The camouflage is a figment of my imagination/derangement. One of the reasons I like building aircraft that didn't exist, is that I don't need to make excuses about 'wrong colour', 'incorrect markings' etc. So, if any rivet-counters have any complaints about factual inaccuracies, please address them to whatever alternate universe this did exist (and preferably one that I don't). If you are interested in the WIP: Thanks for looking and if you aren't Luft-46ed out by now, there is also my Ta-183 build which I bought on the same day as the 509, started building on the same day; and three months later, completed on the same day.
