1. Not sure if this has been posted before only came across it on You Tube today. https://www.youtube.com/user/foxonefour/ There are some interesting videos with a wide selection of aircrafts and displays. I like the 4 Javelins doing formation flying, must have been quite noisy that one. Regards Robert

3. Finished this a few weeks ago, but only just got round to taking some decent pictures - not helped by the appalling 'summer' weather we've had of late in the UK. I won the kit at a raffle so splashed some cash on Xtradecal X72-172 and a set of Pavla resin Martin Baker seats. My first foray into the world of resin. Presumably when Pavla say "designed for the Airfix kit" what they really meant was "will go in the Airfix kit if you remove enough of the original cockpit". I had to really butcher the interior of the cockpit to get the seats to fix, but hopefully that's hard to see from the outside 🙂 WIP is here if anyone's interested: There are so many interesting schemes on the Xtradecal sheet I was spoiled for choice, but eventually settled for XE888/74 of RAF Leuchars Station Flight in 1959. As a Leuchars spotter (although a long time after 1959!) it seemed obvious. Here she is in all her glory wearing the fighter bars of 43 and 151 squadrons, both based at Leuchars at the time. Thanks for looking, and thanks for everyone who commented on the WIP offering advice and encouragement along the way. Bench is now clear for my Tornado GR.1 🙂 Al.
4. Afternoon all, I've been waiting for a spell of good weather to get some pics of this build but I live in Glasgow! Anyway I relented this afternoon and have taken some pics indoors of my latest completion (minus crew seats before anyone shouts at me). I was quite shocked last year when I realised that in my 30+ years of modelling I've never had a completed RAF Phantom, of any variety or colour, in my collection. I finally decided around August time to get my finger out and build a couple of the Fujimi kits I have collected over the years, this was prior to the Airfix announcement. This kit is the FGR.2 from the Alcock and Brown boxing, built pretty much out of the box with the exception of scratch built intake blanks and decals from Xtradecal X72132 "111 Sqn history". The kit went together like a dream with only a little bit of fiddling and filling where the lower fuselage section fits under the cockpit area. I snapped off both tail pitot's and had to replace these with short sections of stretched sprue. I had intended to build it as XV416 from March 1975, just before it was written off in a take-off accident at Coningsby, but I stupidly followed the Xtradecal placement guide and had put the tail markings on as per this "borrowed" 64 Sqn jet rather than the intended placement for XV416. It was either go with it or back to square one, I took the easy option but am still pleased with her. RAF Leuchars was always my "local" air show, and when I lived in Aberdeen during my school days we would always detour past the end of the runway on the way to visit grandparents in Edinburgh. My love of aviation definitely started here and I have an affinity for anything that was based here from the late 70's until the base closure, the favourites without doubt being the Phantoms and Tornado's, both of which feature heavily in my stash. A 43 Sqn FG.1 is already underway for my next Phantom, and roll on Revell's 1/48 Tornado F.3! Anyway on with the pic's, hope she meets with your approval (seats to follow mind!):- All comments and criticism most welcome, Rgds, Eng
5. Despite an appalling 'no show' for the recent Harrier GB, I'm going to chuck my hat into the ring for this one. I'll be combining the new Sword 1/72 Lightning F.1 with Modeldecal sheet 78 to produce XM139 of Leuchars Target Facilities Flight in 1967. This will be my first ever BAC Lightning build as well, despite nearly 30 years modelling! Given my not very good completion rate for GB's and a glacial build speed, I make no promises regarding completion.... Since I have 2 days off, I'm away to make a start on this one, Regards, Mark.
6. Hi all I am still addicted to building Vulcan's and here is my latest one of the Dragon Vulcan's I have been making. I actually made her in July this year but I have not got around to photographing her. Sadly the weather is horrible and can't get any nice summer shots but maybe I will do some more of her in the future. Ironically the weather yesterday when I shot her was just like the inspirational photos I worked from of her in 1977 at Leuchers Here is the photo http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v142/MikePix/Leuchars%201977/VulcLeucXM606.jpg I am really pleased with how she come out I really worked hard to get her camo pattern close as I could from the photos. I just wish I was around back then I would have loved that airshow. Cheers all comments welcome good and bad as always. Rob
