  1. After the refreshed Latin American subjects from 2016, now on to a few from the Middle East. Kopro kit, Wolfpack Design ejection seat (had to cut away several mm of it´s bottom because it is too tall), IFF antennas with plastic rods, Linden Hill decals, the underside color was an older selfmix my dad had standing around for some years (also used on the MiG), don´t know anymore what´s in it 🙂 the sand color was a "gut"mix with Tamiya XF-55 Deck Tan, XF-59 Desert Yellow and XF-60 Dark Yellow the green was Gunze H405 Olive Green Vallejo Metal Color Aluminium for the drop tanks and rocket pods. 2. Hello chaps. Finally this one has come to an end. It is a Kopro kit with tons of aftermarket and many corrections made. Check more on the build in this topic : work in progress The kit is made for a friend and blogger R.S from the very well known blog on SyAAF airplanes. Here it is... for more photos check this site: http://militaryaviation148.blogspot.si/2017/03/su-7bmk-syaaf-1973-ramadan-war.html
  3. Gentlemen As I am almost done with the Iraqi Hunter, it's time to post a new WIP. This one is second in line of the SyAAF next to the L-29. I thought of doing the one from the Ramadan war in '73... The kit is the old Kopro and during the years I managed to collect some aftermarket for it: Neomega cockpit and seat, Eduard interior, SAC metal landing gear, quickboost vents and such and Armory resin wheels. A few years back I did an Algerian Fitter, so no big surprises are expected... The seat looks great: the pit is also nice... After some painting... I've used IP decals from some leftovers, cut them out... I think it's better than I could ever do by hand... To make a BM/BMK out of BKL you need to remove some plastic. The BKL had skids on the landing gear so the wells were larger. A minor surgery... Quickboost vents are too small And that's about it for now. Stay tuned and thanks for looking in. cheers
  4. Because the MiG-21 is gonna be finished tomorrow, my dad starts with the Su-7 of the second Yom Kippur pair. Using the Kopro edition of this kit with Linden Hill Decals to build an Iraqi fighterbomber. And when the Mirage will be finally done, an A-4E Ayit will follow, using a Hasegawa kit with decals from Hobbycraft and Sky Decals
  5. #33/2016 So, my dad finshed the first piece of the second Yom Kippur duo. Kopro kit, Wolfpack Design ejection seat (had to cut away several mm of it´s bottom becuase it is too tall), IFF antennas with plastic rods, Linden Hill decals, Gunze and Tamiya acrylics, Vallejo Metal Color Aluminium for the drop tanks and rocket pods. The model shows an aircraft of No.1 Squadron, IrAF, stationed in Syria during the October War in 1973. 6. SU-22M4 Photo-Etch & Mask Sets (for Smer) 1:48 Eduard The Smer, Kopro/KP/etc. kit is getting a bit long in the tooth, mould-wise and could do with assistance in the detail department, which is what Eduard specialise in. These two sets As usual with Eduard's Photo-Etch (PE) and Mask sets, arrive in a flat resealable package, with a white backing card protecting the contents and the instructions that are sandwiched between. SU-22M4 Set (49735) This set consists of two frets of Photo-Etch (PE) brass, one of which is nickel plated and pre-painted, the other bare, plus a small slip of clear acetate with the HUD glass shape pre-printed on the surface. The instrument panel and side consoles are first to be attacked, shaving all the moulded-in detail from the main panel, to replace it with a layered assembly of parts that will improve the look no end, and avoid all that delicate painting. The side consoles are folded up and attached to the cockpit tub sides, with some additional parts for extra 3D effect. The kit seat is given a set of pre-painted seatbelts; the control column an additional part; the rudder pedals are replaced with new PE ones, and the HUD receives a nice framework on which to seat the aforementioned film once cut out. A pair of cockpit sill skins allied with the closure hooks in the canopy and rear-view mirrors finish off the interior work, after which there are a LOT of small aerials, raised panels and sensors added around the airframe. The afterburner ring has its central ring removed and the new highly-detailed PE part glued to the remainder, for a much more authentic look; the drop-tanks are provided with detailed filler caps; the chunky probe on the nose is stripped of its over-thick protrusions, and a full new set are added, probably best done right at the very last gasp of the build. SU-22M4 Mask Set (EX479) Whilst the masking job for the -22 isn't extensive, this set gives you both a full set of frame-hugging masks so that you can fill in the compound curves with tape or liquid mask, plus a set of wheel masks to allow you to paint a perfect hub after doing the tyres. All of this is pre-cut into yellow kabuki masks with the instructions pointing the way through every panel. A masking set is a great time or stress-saving addition to your build, whatever your motivations. Review sample courtesy of
  7. Ok here is my beast for this build and a beast it is! I wanted to do something a bit different as usual. So it was either going to be a Su-17/22 or Su-24, so after a bit of searching the 17/22 it was. To those who may not know, this model was originally released by Kopro, later to be released by Eduard with extra goods as one of their limited edition models. This was all really good however they didn’t fix any of the issues with the original models and the M3 version has a dozy! The Su-22-M3 was the export version of the Su-17-M3 which was fitted with the Tumanskiy R29BS-300 (which was less powerful and larger in diameter) rather than the original Lyulka AL-21F. The RB29 resulted in the 22-M3 having a fatter rear section around the engine and exhaust being slightly shorter. When comparing the two profiles the difference is quite noticeable and nobody makes a conversion kit! Unfortunately the best colour schemes are for the 22-M3’s. Oh plus there were a couple of other issues but they are minor compared to the engine issue. So mine will be the bog standard Russian version, though I have yet to make up my mind on whether it will be navy or airforce. The additional extra bit will be the Cutting Edge “Flaps and Slats” and new tail can, and no they aren’t the real Cutting Edge products, but a “one off” copy made by some little old lady somewhere in the old Eastern Block!! Least she did a good job. Anyway can’t wait to start this beast, should be lots of fun........gee it’s big!
