Here's my 1/72 Trumpeter MiG-31 for the From Russia With Love GB. You can find the build thread here. First off, I know, I know, there are a couple of horrific seams! This build was completed as I was in the final months of my PhD, so for me it was something to take my mind of the thesis and help me relax. It was also a chance to test out @HATAKA OFFICIAL paints and some new oil based weathering techniques. Probably not the best way to kick off my first RFI, but I thought I would get the excuses out of the way early Anyway, to the build itself. I was impressed with the fit and how the kit went together with the one exception of the intakes. Struggled to get the seam sorted out, and in the end I decided not to go too far and lose too much detail. Painting went very well, brush painted @HATAKA OFFICIAL Red Line paints and was very pleased with the finish. I tried out some oil paints for the weathering and was satisfied with the outcome. For me, it looks like a MiG-31 and that's what matters! With any luck this will be one of my final brush painted kits! Sorry for the terrible pictures, but hope you enjoy nonetheless!
Another one from the Christmas WIP over the festive season... Nice simple kit that needs alot of nose weight. Alot. Hataka 'international orange' from the early USN set. Played around mixing some white in to fade the top, along with the final varnish sheens. Desert sun faded Matt ontop going to satin lowers. Mr color 351 zinc chromate for the interiors, touched up and chipped with the mig colours. Super metals - probes in chrome and hubs in super fine silver. More Details in the WIP here - Anyway here it is - This one below shows the fading better. Orange looks very monotone against the white background in other pics. Again bleached uppers more apparent in this one below. Thanks for looking Tony O
So for this build the quartet will be a f-16cj by tamiya in the 'have glass scheme' by hataka, (caracal next gen vipers), and an F-16N by hasegawa, and a Revell C in the new mission models paints. Mission models paints. (Will have to mix three shades of grey from black and white). Upgradings - wheels, seat and ordnance. Final is Academy bird with resin wheels, seat and exhaust. itching to start... Tamiya cj RFI Hasegawa N RFI Revell C RFI RFI And here they all are together! Thanks for looking Tony
Just a quick note to say we've restocked and expanded on the range of Hataka and Ammo of Mig paint sets. We now stock not just the Aircraft related sets but also the Armour related sets too. http://www.mjwmodels.co.uk/hataka-hobby-293-c.asp http://www.mjwmodels.co.uk/ammo-of-mig-291-c.asp thanks Mike
We are now stocking the acrylic paint sets from the Polish company Hataka Hobby. The paints are in 17ml plastic bottles, similar to those used by Vallejo (although the 2 companies are not related) but come a ball bearing 'agitator' in the bottles to help when you shake the bottle prior to painting. There's 9 paint sets so far, three 6 colour sets and six 4 colour sets. The 6 colour sets are for Late war Luftwaffe camouflage, RAF Temperate camouflage colours, and USAF Vietnam camouflage colours. The 4 colour sets are as follows - WW2 Polish Air Force, WW2 RAF Desert colours, Luftwaffe Desert Colours, Early Luftwaffe camouflage (Battle of Britain), USAAF colours and USN aircraft colours. We didn't get the RAF Desert colours as that was out of stock but we will be able to get that in soon. Prices are £10.98 for the 6 colour sets and £7.98 for the 4 colour sets. Which works out a little under £2 per pot, which isn't bad these days! http://www.mjwmodels.co.uk/hataka-hobby-293-c.asp thanks Mike
