  1. Hello all. I started this one back on April, it stalled a couple of weeks later and I picked it up again in August. I don't build many jets, much less modern ones so this was a bit of an adventure into grey. Dirty grey was the attraction, this was my subject aircraft. The WIP is here. In short, I found the kit to very user friendly and didn't have any issues with it. I used a lot of PE in the cockpit and found that to be more enjoyable that I usually find cockpits to be. I didn't have decals so ended up painting all the markings except the pilot's name, the engine intake warning chevron and the rescue arrow. I created a stencil for the eagle's shape and then hand drew the detail with a weathering pencil. There are no stencils on the model because as hard as I looked at the photos above I cannot see a single one on this airframe. I did find the bombs to be tedious but they look nice 🙂 To the pics... And some cockpit pics from the in-progress (I'm aware the bang seat might be the wrong colour but I learned that too late to change it)... Thanks for looking, cheers.
  2. Ok lets make a start: I bought this Hasegawa kit a few years ago it came in an Airfix Spitfire box of all things. It looks like all the parts are there and the packaging is intact. I'm leaning towards doing an Home Islands based machine as I've done a couple of Solomans based Kittyhawks already. So I'll be using some Ventura Decals markings for OD 28. the only addition will be an Ultracast seat.
  3. I love the Phantom, but I really love the Spey powered versions. This is Hasegawa's kit to which I added a resin cockpit from Aires. I used decals from Almark and Model Alliance for the Navy markings. Xtracolor enamels to pain her. As usual, no weapons were included in the kit so I got hold of some of Eduard's Sidewinders and Sparrows from their Brassin range. They are exceptional well detailed and very fine. The Sidewinder's fins are so thin they are translucent. This makes it very difficult to remove them from the pouring plug without damaging them. Here she is with a hangar mate: And here she is with a friend from over the pond: By pure co-incidence I found this picture showing the two F4s for real: Thanks for looking.
  4. Its a more of a "Nearly done" than WIP. This is Hasegawa's FGR Phabtom with an Aires cockpit and decals from Almark and Model Alliance. It still needs a bit more weathering and I am waiting for some Sidewinders and Sparrows for her. Xtracolor enamels were used for the main colours. Thanks for looking.
  5. This is a model of the Fw190 that was flown by Pips Priller. Priller was famous for being one of the only Luftwaffe pilots, along with his wing man, who made a strafing pass on the beaches on D-Day. The Hasegawa kit is a little gem! It fitted together with no problems at all. I added a set of paper and etched belts from Eduard. Painted with Xtracolor enamels. image hosting over 2mb image ru imgurl image hosting over 10mb windows screen capture windows print screen upload pictures online Thanks for looking
