There was a biplane, still with a WW1-born rotary-engine, built in the thousands in its home country and in the hundreds in several other countries. And still flying in hundreds in the 1930s, alongside the British Avro 504, DH Moth and the Soviet U-2. This rotary dinosaur was the French Hanriot HD.14, also known as HD.28 or H.28. Over 300 of them flew in Poland - the last one was cancelled only in 1938, and numerous photos are found in many sources. But the French Air Force had over 1,900 of them. And here a strange emptiness - there are no photos, except for pictures from the 1922-25 exhibitions. Has anyone (I'm secretly counting on a group of our French colleagues) photos of these machines in the colours of the French Air Force? They may be from the late 20's, but the ones from the 30's would be even more interesting. By the way, I can't even find out until when these machines flew with French cockades. Cheers Michael

For your perusal...HR Models Hanriot HD-2 floatplane. This was a nice little kit but needed a certain amount of TLC and skill to build. The instructions were rudimentary but sufficient and I ended up using plenty of on-line sources for the rigging, alternative views and weathering. I love making early floatplanes and aside from this kit (and others from HR), the Roden Albatros W-4s, and a couple of other more obscure kits, there aren't a lot out there in this scale. The rigging is a mix of .004 fishing line ( which means a lot of drilling!) and some stretched sprue for the little bits. Paints are all Vallejo and the decals are OOB, as is the build. --JDCM

May I jump in with another Hanriot - no PE or resin here ... Eduard - this is the boxing (link) This will be an OOB build, and much as I like the Belgian colours, it'll be a silver Italian bird I've made a start on the 'pit I still have to add the instruments here Seeing the Don 'per ardua ad ostentationem' seat pillar, I might pinch that idea (post 10 here http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234964058-hanriot-hd1-in-italian-service-eduard-148/?p=1697820)
