  1. Hi Figure collectors I decided to make a post of this as these models command very high prices and I for one would have really appreciated knowing what was in the box before buying these very old and highly collectable kits. The Kaiyodo Dinoland series offered 2 different posed Tyrannosaurus models in a 1/20 scale. They date back to 1990 and 1991 prior to the Stan Winston Jurassic Park work. Both of these kits are very good quality and offer a good alternative to what is now deemed the standard look of a T-Rex. The kits are cast in vinyl and were both sculpted by the same modeller - Shinobu Matsumura. They are Japanese and very well cast. Given their age, both the kits I have, have survived the years well and show no sign of deformation, shrinkage or sinking. I know this post/topic will not be of interest to many, however I have made a point of uploading it as sometime in the future, collectors will want to know what the difference between these 2 kits are before possibly having to spend upto $300 USD on either kit as I have. For ease of reference I am going to separate these 2 kits as: 1990 Kit - Pose A - Striding T-Rex Bull (lighter cast kit) 1991 Kit - Pose B - Standing T-Rex Calling Female. Although cast in the same scale and overlooking the differences in their postures, there are major differences in the overall body build and textures of the models which could easily makes these either Male or Female. In case the pictures get confusing below, the 1990 Striding pose is the lighter cast kit which in my opinion is better value and has more parts - albeit a fairly Spartan model. On the left - 1990 Kit - Pose A - Striding T-Rex Bull (lighter cast kit) Looking down on the top of the Rex's backs - On the left - 1990 Kit - Pose A - Striding T-Rex Bull (lighter cast kit) Looking up the underside of their bellies - On the left - 1990 Kit - Pose A - Striding T-Rex Bull (lighter cast kit) Their heads - the top piece is the 1990 Striding posed kit - are those feathers on the neck?? The 1991 Standing pose on the left below now 1990 Pose A Head 1991 Pose B Head 1991 Pose B on the left below 1990 Pose A on the top The 1991 Pose B - Standing Kit box contents - minus the front limbs The 1990 Pose A - Striding Kit box contents - minus front limbs and hind leg claws 1990 Kit Pose A on the left 1990 Pose A at the top - Tails 1990 Pose A - Hind leg claws 1990 Pose A - front limbs on the left - this is where some of the major differences between the 2 same scaled kits are easily noticeable. So there you go and like I said to begin with, this post of for long term archive reference and is hoped to help future investors in these kits sometime in the future before they go shelling out tons of money on the wrong model.
