  1. Here is the Zvezda Boeing 737-800 finished as LN-RRW “Saga Viking” of SAS in the Star Alliance logojet scheme. We all love our Zvezda kits but they need to pay a bit more attention to quality control. I recently binned a Tu-134 when attempts to fill bad sink marks on the upper wings went wrong. On the 738 the wings, particularly the left one, were so badly warped that it was touch and go whether I was going to be able to fix them. I had also forgotten how badly the engines fit and it took a fraught hour or so to get them properly aligned followed by a lot of Milliput and Mr Surfacer to make things reasonably presentable. I’m still not 100% happy but it’s as good as I can get. I added a spare Revell satcom fairing, some Daco p/e pitots and a few other small details from plastic sheet. The build was otherwise OOB. As usual paint is Halfords Appliance Gloss White and Racking Grey. The engines are Xtracolor X339 and Revell Aqua 371 since Xtracolor seem to have discontinued the SAS Light Grey they used to make. Metallics are by Tamiya and Revell. Decals are by V1. They helpfully give you the choice of an overall fin decal or a separate logo. Not being a big fan of overall fin decals I sprayed the fin (Mr Hobby H2 for anyone interested) and used the logo. I also added Authentic Airliners windows and supplemented V1’s detail decals from the spares box. Thanks for looking and constructive criticism is always welcome. Dave G
  2. I am currently working on this Zvezda Boeing 737-8 Max which will be displayed in the WestJet livery registration C-GRAX. This kit is excellent and the detailing is brilliant. The fuselage was Primed using Halfords White Primer, and then sprayed with Humbrol White Gloss Paint. The wings are painted using Revell 371 and Revell 90 for the leading edges. I have just assembled the ‘Leap’ Engines which have gone together really well and have great detailing, they have been primed ready to be painted/glossed. Will add further photos and updates as the build progresses. Thank you for looking and any comments are greatly appreciated. I have got on with a bit more work on my 787-8 Max over the last few days. I have attached the Landing Gear, painted the horizontal stabilisers and nearly completed the Engines (just a few more coats of varnish and the inlet rings to attach). Engines have been painted using Halfords White Primer and then coated with several coats of Humbrol Clear Varnish Coat, inlet rings Revell Silver 90. I am very much looking forward to applying the decals to this model. I have started applying the decals to the model now, and as always with Draw Decals they go on really well. A little bit of trimming was required for the tail decal, and for parts of the Winglets. Once again thank you for looking and any comments and suggestions are always welcomed. Alistair
  3. When I was writing the Donaldson Britannia thread in the Airliners III Group Build last year I mentioned that I was also working on a Boeing 737 which was refusing to be finished. This is the culprit. It should have been at the East of Scotland Model Show last August but I only got it finished a couple of weeks ago in time to make its show debut at the Scottish Nationals along with the British Midland and Air Serbia Airbuses. The kit is Revell with BraZ engines. Winglets are modified kit items. Decals are Nazca with an Authentic Airliners windscreen. The decals were tricky (!) and required a fair amount of nipping and tucking although fortunately black is one of the easier colours to touch up and I managed to keep the worst to the underside. Despite the 738’s long gestation and the time it spent looking forlorn while I decided whether to finish it or not I’m glad I persisted and I’m actually pretty happy with the final result. Thanks for looking and I promise this is my last RFI for a while! Dave G
  4. Hello everyone! This is my first post in this 'Ready for Inspection' forum and is of a Jet2 Boeing 737-800 in 1/144 scale using the Revell model kit plus the Authentic Airliners 737NG Improvement Kit for the engines and winglets. Using advice from the BM forum regarding the Jet2 silver, I have painted the fuselage Tamiya TS-76 Mica Silver and then oversprayed with Tamiya TS-65 Pearl Clear which seems to work pretty well. For the tail, engines and winglets I have used Testers 1103 Gloss Red which seems pretty close to the Jet2 red. As they aren't available in the market as screen printed decals, I have created the Jet2 decal artwork sheet myself from scratch and had them professionally screen printed. Thanks and I hope you like it. Richard
