  1. I completed this kit around this time in 2020 for the Heller Group Build & never got round to completing what I had in mind for it. So I purchased the Ace 1/72 kit of the Traction Avant 11CV with the idea of posing Antoine with one of his crew before his apparent suicide reconnaissance mission to Arras, which he obviously survived to tell the tale. There may have been two other crew members, gunner & camera operator, but with this I am just using artistic licence. They're still waiting for the other crew member to arrive by bicycle. This is actually my first if not rather basic airfield diorama scene. I still haven't got round to reading the book, so I will have to try & track it down. Figures are adapted from the Airfix RAF Personnel set. Thanks for looking! Martin
  2. My Heller Bloch 174 arrived today, just in time to join in. This is a big departure for me as I've been building far more modern jets in recent years & I've been spoiling myself with mostly newly tooled kits. This kit has quite nice finely raised detail, but I will be rescribing some select panel lines. I won't be getting rid of all thise rivets. There doesn't look to be much in the way of aftermarket for it except for a few Renaissance parts, resin engines & new vacform clear parts. The kit transparencies look pretty good to me & I personally can't see what's wrong with the engine nacelles, so this looks like it will be built mostly out of the box, but the tyres look pretty featureless, so I might raid the spares box or see what aftermarket would be appropriate. Now I would be under the impression that Heller would naturally include decals for a Bloch 174 that Antoine de Saint-Exupéry had actually flown in but there's no reference to him in the decal instructions. It would be nice to build the "Flight To Arras" airframe that he flew in, but so far I haven't ascertained which airframe that was. From what I gather he flew with GR 11/33 but not sure if he flew in the airframes depicted in the decal sheet. Airframes provided are No.25 & No.53. Any help with details on which "174" airframe Saint-Exupéry's most notable for would be great as I would like to attach some significance to the build while i'm at it.
  3. Hi, From mine deep archive of French airplanes - three old Hellers: Amiot 143, Breguet 693 and Bloch 174.... I made them many years ago - Amiot comes from my school years (I think I made it in 1976 or 1975), Bloch 174 and Breguet 693 are from 1992 and 1993. Before posting them I just washed them and added as usually fresh coat of Vallejo Matt varnish, which apparently is a rather satin, not complete matt. Amiot 143c is in markings of GB II/38, France 1940: Breguet 693 is in markings of training unit of Regia Aeronautica, Oran, March 1943. She wear overpainted Vichy markings, the machine belonged before to Gr 1/51. There was an mistake in ilalian markings (not mine, but in 1943 ) - The fasces on wings are not mirror-symmetric, but all one direction. Bloch 174 is in markings of GR II/33 1e Esc., Tunis, Ai-Aouina, 1941-2, pilot Sgt. Joannic (decals from drawer, some hand painting like pilot name or emblems on tails): Comments welcome Regards Jerzy-Wojtek
