Following a discussion of the merits or otherwise, of the old Airfix Junkers Ju-88 kit on the WWII section of the forums, here:
I said that not only did I remember this kit fondly from my childhood but was very tempted to build the kit again for fun in this, my second childhood. Time methinks to put my money where my mouth is! This will be a build purely for fun and I will be making no effort to correct the kit's inaccuracies, just a straightforward build with just a small amount of detailing. The kit transfers have long since shuffled off this mortal coil so a replacement set for a Spanish example have been sourced from Kora. I plan to add such of an Eduard cockpit set that can be persuaded to fit without over much hassle and a replacement set of wheels. I have a load of 1/72 detail parts in the loft that were left to me by a deceased friend and I may see whether there is anything there of use but I don't really want this to get over complicated as I want to see if the kit can be as much fun as I remember. Anyway, on to the pictures...................
Box top artwork:
Proper old style instructions:
New transfer sheet (note, none of that modern decal nonsense!)
There will now be a short intermission while I give the kit a quick re-scribe as the kit's raised detail is never going to survive the build.
Thanks for looking
