  1. Evening all, Thought I'd share some images from two excellent events I've attended this week courtesy of Navy Wings. Firstly, on Thursday I attended their night shoot at Yeovilton, organised by Threshold.aero. My first time at this type of event, it was a great opportunity to get some different of images of some familiar and stunning machines. Great fun. Hopefully these were of interest, comments welcomed Shaun
  2. Evening all, Managed a cheeky couple of days up at Fairford to catch the bombers flying in and out over the weekend and thought I'd share some images. Things didn't start well on Friday, with the B-2s deciding to exit the runway early, leaving those of us gathered at the 09 end highly frustrated. That bad luck was soon gratified with the arrival of the two B-1s, despite only one expected to return, although their early arrival nearly caught me out- had I returned from Brize 30 seconds later I'd have missed it. As it happens, I got the shot I've wanted ever since I picked up a camera... Catching the Commander's BUFF was a treat too, a very rare jet by all accounts. Unrelated to SABER STRIKE I know, but though it worth adding in here rather than starting a new thread... What an event! The arrival of BUFF 02 provided the real highlight of the day, returning in some cracking light- I doubt I'll shoot a BUFF as well this again Rockwell B-1B Lancer 85-0084/EL US Air Force RAF Fairford 11/06/17 by Shaun Schofield, on Flickr Boeing B-52H Stratofortress 60-0021/LA US Air Force RAF Fairford 11/06/17 by Shaun Schofield, on Flickr Boeing B-52H Stratofortress 60-0021/LA US Air Force RAF Fairford 11/06/17 by Shaun Schofield, on Flickr Rockwell B-1B Lancer 85-0084/EL US Air Force RAF Fairford 11/06/17 by Shaun Schofield, on Flickr Boeing B-52H Stratofortress 60-0021/LA US Air Force RAF Fairford 11/06/17 by Shaun Schofield, on Flickr Rockwell B-1B Lancer 85-0084/EL US Air Force RAF Fairford 11/06/17 by Shaun Schofield, on Flickr Rockwell B-1B Lancer 85-0084/EL US Air Force RAF Fairford 11/06/17 by Shaun Schofield, on Flickr Rockwell B-1B Lancer 85-0084/EL US Air Force RAF Fairford 11/06/17 by Shaun Schofield, on Flickr Rockwell B-1B Lancer 85-0084/EL US Air Force RAF Fairford 11/06/17 by Shaun Schofield, on Flickr Rockwell B-1B Lancer 85-0084/EL US Air Force RAF Fairford 11/06/17 by Shaun Schofield, on Flickr Boeing B-52H Stratofortress 60-0002/LA US Air Force RAF Fairford 11/06/17 by Shaun Schofield, on Flickr Boeing B-52H Stratofortress 60-0021/LA US Air Force RAF Fairford 11/06/17 by Shaun Schofield, on Flickr Boeing B-52H Stratofortress 60-0021/LA US Air Force RAF Fairford 11/06/17 by Shaun Schofield, on Flickr All in all, a very productive exercise, and I'm absolutely delighted to have finally had the long awaited chance shoot a B-1. Thanks for looking, comments welcomed Shaun
  3. Evening all, We seem to do pretty well down here in the South West as far as airshows are concerned, and after sharing some shots from the regions biggest show at Yeovilton, I thought I'd round up the rest of my 'local' shows from last year. In June, I headed to Weston, attending both days of the Weston Air Festival, a relatively small event that certainly seemed to punch above its weight. I viewed the show from Brean Down, which overlooks the bay, rather than head into the town itself, thus avoiding the large crowds and taking better advantage of the sun's more favourable position. A small affair, the event can throw up some excellent photographic opportunities if the light plays ball, which fortunately this year it did. So often affected by Cornwall's inclement weather, we were treated to unusually sunny skies for most of the show, which had several highlights, most notably for me the taxying of three of the based Sea Harriers. It'd been far too long since I heard the characteristic whine of a Pegasus! Sadly, the Sea Fury incident marred what was an otherwise excellent show. There really isn't a much better shooting location at a UK show than the hill, especially for viewing the Reds, especially when an impromptu opportunity to shoot a Sea King and Whirlwind together in the air comes up. The true highlight however was my first and best chance to shoot the two Lancasters together. Whilst I didn't quite get the shots I hoped for, the sight and sound of the pair in formation will stay long in the memory, a real highlight of any show I've attended, not just this year.
