  1. Sometimes you have yourself a kit that is pretty much faultless, the build goes through without issues and it restores your faith in life. This for me is one of those - great package, great book that comes with it, huge colour profile book (32 to choose from!), perfect fit of parts. Probably only couple of things to say is maybe too many parts/bit over engineered for 1/72 (cockpit took me ages and now can barely see it!). Really wish Eduard would do more of these special boxings in 1/72 but they seem to focus on 1/48 recently. Vallejo model air paints, I chose the following markings: #1 S/L Tom Trimble No. 457 squadron, Sattler Airstrip late 1944 #2 F/O Norm Turnbull No 79 squadron, Morotai, April 1945
  2. All done The Eduard Spitfires are probably my favourite 1/48 scale prop kit. This is the third one I've built and all have been enjoyable builds. This one took less than 4 weeks to complete, in hours I estimate less than 20 hours all up. That said, there are few little things that I don' like, those being the two piece cowl, exhaust assembly and sloppy fit of the undercarriage. The cowl is easy to rectify and I'm looking at aftermarket exhausts for the next one. The Aussie MK VIII's have a heap of interesting marking options so I will definitely be building more in the future. This aircraft was flown by the RAAF's lead ace GPCAPT Clive Caldwell, the CO of No. 80 Wing, Morotai, March, 1945. More images and details at my blog
  3. As a serial kitstarter it's a big thing whenever I actually finish a kit but once in a while it happens, and now it's time again. The intended individual is this This is my #2 for this year, with is a 100% increase from last year (but that was a 1/24 Typhoon, so I see that as an ok excuse) Eduards Spitfire kits are remarkable stuff, with only two pieces out of 150+ giving any trouble (and it's the blasted engine covers!) and in the Aussie Eight boxing its also matched with 31 different markings, and a special etched fret (which is sadly not available to purchase at will, but might come back in June from what the Eduard Facebook representative told me) No aftermarket stuff were harmed in this build, and its painted using the Gunze colors specified in the instructions. Link to WIP I'm no photographer, so please bear with me with these pictures. Already looking forward to the next one!
